The Celestron CG-4 German Equatorial Mount is designed with ball bearings in both axes for smooth manual tracking with the included slow-motion control cables. Included with this dependable telescope mount is a sturdy stainless-steel tripod with a 33" - 47" adjustable heigh range, a built-in accessory tray that doubles as a tripod spreader bar for extra support and stability, two counterweights (7 lb. and 4 lb.) and counterweight shaft.

The CG-4 tripod comes pre-assembled for your convenience. It has adjustable stainless-steel legs that extend to make the tripod from 33" to 47" tall. A built-in bubble level helps you level the tripod when on uneven ground, and tripod leg spikes help stabilize the Omni tripod when you are on grass or dirt. Learn more below!
Smooth Manual Controls & Sturdy Tripod
German equatorial mounts are known for their ease of use and ability to smoothly track objects across the night sky. This EQ mount comes pre-assembled, so you won't need any special tools to set up. Getting ready for your first night under the stars is a breeze! Just attach the included tripod to the base of the mount head, thread the latitude screw to the back of the mount, and attach the counterweights. Then it will be ready for your telescope! After the quick set up, you'll just need to roughly polar align the mount to your nearest polar axis and latitude, then you'll be smoothly traversing the night sky with the two included slow motion control knobs. The adjustable metal tripod that comes with the CG-4 has sturdy 1.75” diameter legs can be lowered or raised via a simple locking knob located on each leg. It also comes with a multipurpose spreader bar which works to keep the mount stable while also holding your eyepieces and accessories.

Even when using a smooth EQ mount to track the objects in the night sky, you have stay focused and follow objects to keep them from moving out of your view.
