Returns Policy

Return Policy:

Basic Product Return


All of us at High Point want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase! We will accept returns up to 30 Days after the purchase date. To receive a full refund less shipping (both ways) and handling fees, all returned products must be in new unopened condition, contain all of the original packing material and product components. All returns must be accompanied by a RMA Number. The RMA Number must be posted on the shipping label and not the original box. To obtain an RMA Number please contact customer service at 800.266.9590. Please have your original invoice number available to expedite the process.

Once we receive your package it will be inspected. Our team will look for original packaging, and inspect the product for any scratches, dings, etc. If the product is classified as being in new condition you will receive a full refund (less shipping costs, both ways), no questions asked. If the product contains dings, scratches or basic wear and tear the RMA will be subject to a re-stocking fee which will be determined upon completion of the inspection.

Note regarding shipping: We offer free shipping on hundreds of products! If you decide you want to return an item and it is in new condition you will receive a full refund less our initial shipping cost associated with shipping the product to you. This includes all products with free shipping promotions attached to them.

Return Processing Time


A returned product must pass through multiple hands prior to refund generation. First it must be received by our shipping department. Once received our technicians must inspect the product. After inspection the RMA is passed to the credit dept which issues the refund. Please allow up to 12 business days after we receive your return for the refund to be processed.

Defective Product Return


If you receive a product and believe it to be defective contact us at 800.266.9590 orders@highpointscientific.com. Please describe the problem in detail and we will do our best to help correct the issue. In most instances perceived problems are simply technical adjustments that our customer service reps can guide you through over the phone. Virtually all product defects require that you contact the manufacturer directly. However, we encourage you to call us first because we have the leverage to expedite the process for you.

Shipping Error


If we ship you the wrong product we will cover all of the shipping costs associated with the product return. To expedite this please contact one of our customer service representatives and inform them of the situation. He or she will issue a call tag and have UPS pick the package up with in 24-48 hours.

Software, Books, & Maps


High Point Scientific does not accept returns on Software, Books or Maps.

Payment Policy:

Product pricing, availability and specifications are subject to change without notice. Prices found on this site apply to online purchases only. Internet only specials may appear on this site that may or may not apply to phone or mail orders. Conversely, flyers, show specials, catalog pricing, phone or mail order pricing and specials may not apply to online purchases.

We strive to keep web pricing current. All orders are contingent upon review by the sales staff to insure accurate product pricing and availability. Any order with pricing discrepancies, or availability issues, will not be processed until contact has been made with the purchaser. As such, payments will not be processed until the issues in question are resolved.

All pricing is subject to change. For all prices, products and offers, High Point Scientific reserves the right to make adjustments due to changing market conditions, product discontinuation, manufacturer price changes, errors in advertisements and website pricing and other extenuating circumstances.

Sales Tax


New Jersey residents are charged NJ state sales tax. Pick-ups or in state sales require us to charge sales tax regardless of your state of residence. A word of caution, your Internet or mail order purchases may be subject to state and local use taxes. Consult a tax professional regarding your tax liability.

If an item is drop shipped from a location in one state and received by the customer in that same state then the state sales tax laws of that particular state apply. For example if a customer from California requests to have an order drop shipped by Lumicon (which is located in California) then the state sales tax laws of California will apply to that order.

Payment Processing


When you place an order at www.highpointscientific.com we authorize your card for the total dollar amount of your order. Your card is not charged until your order is ready to ship. Back-ordered items are also charged only when ready to ship. You may request to pay for back ordered items prior to them being ready for shipping.

Special Orders


There is a core yet small group of products that we offer as special order items. These are items that are not regularly stocked as a result of their market demand. Special orders require a 25% non-refundable deposit. We will be sure to indicate the special order status of an order through our website or via email or phone call after the order is placed. Through this verification we will indicate the terms of sale and will not order the product until you confirm your understanding of the terms. This process may take an extra day to execute but it protects all parties involved.

Free Shipping


High Point Scientific offers Free Shipping on over 700 products. Free Shipping indicators can be found on the product page of each individual product. Orion & Losmandy Products are excluded from this offer. This offer is subject to change without notice.

At High Point we offer Free Shipping on our most popular products. In order to provide the free shipping option to as many products as possible High Point Scientific reserves the right to use a multitude of shipping options. Some of the most readily used shipping services under the free shipping promotion are UPS Ground (for larger packages) and USPS First Class Mail (for smaller packages). If you wish to have shipping options upgraded for an additional fee please contact our sales department at 800.266.9590. Dobsonian Telescopes are not covered under this free shipping promotion. High Point Scientific reserves the right to make final determinations regarding this promotion.

General


Your orders are sent out fast! Typically, all orders placed by 1:30 pm Eastern Standard Time are shipped the same day. If you place an order after the specified time and wish to have your order shipped the same day please tell your sales representative and we will try our very best to get your order on the truck.

Domestic Shipping


Due to the nature of our product line we ship 90% of our products via UPS Ground, UPS 3-Day Select, UPS 2-Day Air or UPS Next Day Air by default. UPS is a proven partner of ours. Further, all of their shipments are sent fully insured and contain tracking numbers so you can have access to the location of your package throughout the delivery process. We do have the ability to ship via USPS upon request. Please note USPS does not offer tracking functionality, the only confirmation they offer is final destination confirmation. Additionally, USPS shipments tend to arrive less quickly when compared to that of UPS.

Quoted Shipping Time


Our website quotes shipping time to assist you in your decision making process. For example if you see "Usually Ships In 3 Days" that means upon receiving your order we will immediately contact the manufacturer to order your item the same day. The 3 day ship time is based off the manufacturer's geographical location from our warehouse as well as our shipping department's ability to get the product out the door. There are occasions where the manufacturer will be backordered on an item for an extended period of time which is beyond our control. When this occurs a member of our customer service team will contact you within 18 hours to give you an updated status on the actual ship time. When you place an order on our website we don't actually capture your credit card payment until the item is ready to ship. So in the event that you do cancel your order due to an extended backorder circumstance we will not have to issue a credit.

International Shipping


High Point Scientific ships internationally! We are however governed by dealer agreements that prevent us from shipping some of the brands we carry internationally. Due to the fact that each agreement has its own degree of complexity we ask that you email us at orders@highpointscientific.com to inquire about shipping status of a particular product.

There are no restrictions on the shipment of used and demo equipment. So if you are looking for items from Celestron or Meade please check our demo section first, if you do not see what you are looking for contact us. Please note used and demo products are subject to warranty limitations from the manufacturer when shipped internationally. If you have any questions regarding warranty qualification contact us at orders@highpointscientific.com.

The recommended shipping method for internationals shipments is UPS. If you would like your items shipped via USPS you must request this in writing. Please note USPS does not offer tracking functionality, the only confirmation they offer is final destination confirmation. Additionally, USPS shipments tend to arrive less quickly when compared to that of UPS especially as it pertains to international shipments.
