RETURN POLICY:

Defective Products:

Defective products are subject to the manufacturer’s warranty policies and will be handled in the most efficient manner. Depending on the specific problem, this may require returning the item directly to the manufacturer. High Point Scientific will assist you in resolving warranty issues with the manufacturer.


Non-Defective Product Return:

Non-Defective product returns will be accepted up to 14 days after delivery/receipt of the item. No returns on opened software, publications or electrical components. All returned products are subject to a minimum 15% restocking fee. All return shipping and insurance charges are your responsibility. The only exception to this is if High Point Scientific shipped the wrong item in the first place.

 

You can minimize or possibly eliminate the restocking fee by following the steps below:

 

  1. Prior to returning an item you must obtain an RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number. Returns will NOT be accepted without this number. Call or write High Point to obtain this RGA number. Please be prepared to give the original invoice number along with the specific reason for the return.
  2. Repack the item in the original boxes with the original packing material. Additional packing material may be required to provide safe shipping. Make sure all parts and accessories, manuals and blank warranty cards are included with the return.
  3. Write our address and the RGA number on separate labels and securely attach them to the original shipping container. DO NOT write our address or the RGA number directly onto the shipping box.
  4. Ship the item within two business days to:

       High Point Scientific, Inc.  442 Route 206, Montague, NJ 07827. 

 

Upon receipt, returned items will be inspected and a determination will be made as to the total restocking fee to be charged.


What we do with returned items:

We do not sell, as new, any non-defective items returned to us. Returned items are checked and resold at a discount. The discount is dependent on the condition and the resale potential of the returned items. Items that have been returned are sold at star parties, at our store or at shows where inspection is possible.

 

Ordering Mistakes and Compatibility of Products:

It is ultimately your responsibility to make sure the products you order from this us will be compatible with each other or with the equipment you already own. For example: you normally do not want to buy a solar filter for an 11” telescope if you have a 14”.  If you have any question regarding the use or compatibility of the products you are planning to order please contact us first. The staff at High Point will make every effort to check compatibility issues. Mistakes in ordering end up costing everyone involved so please be sure before you order. Products returned for this reason are subject to our normal return policies.


 

SHIPPING and HANDLING:


Our standard shipping method is with United Parcel Service (UPS) regular ground. Orders for in-stock items received Prior to 1:30 PM EST will be shipped the same day. We will attempt to ship orders received after 1:30 PM EST but cannot guarantee it.  Once items are shipped, tracking numbers can be provided. Expedited shipping such as Next Day, 2 Day and 3 Day Air, is available for an additional charge.

 

Shipping and handling charges stated on this site are estimates only. Total Shipping and Handling charges are based on the amount of packing involved, shipping method, the total number of items shipped, total shipment weight and the shipping address. Once the shipment leaves our facility we have no ability to control delivery. However, normal shipping times are from 2 to 7 business days.

 

Items are shipped FOB from Montague NJ. Drop shipments are FOB from the shipment origination point.

 

Postal Shipping:

Due to the high incidence of losses and the delays in loss recovery, we prefer not to ship items through the United States Post Office. If you request, in writing, shipment by the USPS, we will honor your request. Please note: if your package is lost and a claim has to be filed we reserve the right to charge a $50.00 service fee for filing the claim and doing the necessary follow up tracking the loss. In addition there may be up to a 6-month delay in resolving a loss.

 

Signature:

For your protection and due to the high incidence of fraud and theft we normally request UPS to obtain an adult signature on packages valued over $750.00. While inconvenient for some, the adult signature requirement helps to cut down on theft and Credit Card Fraud in addition to reducing the time recovering a loss. While we strongly advise against it, you may request in writing either by email or fax for us to drop this delivery requirement. These requests are handled on a case-by-case basis and may require you to give additional shipping and credit card information. Please contact us for details.

 

Shipping Damage:

Please inspect the package when delivered. Look for signs of damage or abuse and if possible, point this out to the delivery person immediately. Let them advise you as to the best course of action at this point. If upon opening the package you discover hidden product damage, stop removing the goods and contact your local delivery terminal ASAP. They will advise you what to do next.

 

Hazardous Materials:

Products requiring special handling may incur additional shipping charges. You will be contacted prior to shipping to inform you of any extra charges due to complying with these rules.


Shipping Promotions:
All shipping promotions are based on UPS ground shipping, inside the 48 Continental United States. Any special conditions will be outlined in the specific promotion. High Point Scientific, Inc. reserves the right to make all final decisions. Terms are subject to change without notice.
 


Pricing:
 

Product pricing, availability and specifications are subject to change without notice. Prices found on this site apply to online purchases only.  Internet only specials may appear on this site that may or may not apply to in-store, phone or mail orders. Conversely in-store promotions, flyers, show specials, catalog pricing, phone or mail order pricing and specials may not apply to online purchases.

We will endeavor to keep web pricing current. All orders are contingent upon review by the sales staff to insure accurate product pricing and availability. Any order with pricing discrepancies, or availability issues, will not be processed until contact has been made with the purchaser. As such, payments will not be processed until the issues in question are resolved.

 


Sales Tax:

NJ residents are charged NJ State Sales tax in addition to shipping. In-store pick-ups or sales require us to charge Sales Tax regardless of your state of residence. A word of caution your Internet or mail order purchases may be subject to state and local use taxes. Consult a tax professional regarding your tax liability.



Payments:

Your credit card is charged when only when items are ready to be shipped. The shipment of these items will be the same day or the next business day. Back-ordered items are also charged when shipped. You may request to pay for back ordered items prior to them being ready for shipping but we do not recommend this. Payment by check or money order will be accepted but your order will not ship until the funds clear our bank

 


Special Orders:

A 25% Non-Refundable deposit is required on special orders. Special orders are not returnable. The balance due must be paid in full prior to shipping.


Foreign Sales:

On occasion High Point will ship products outside the United States. We are restricted by some of our dealership agreements that limit what we can sell outside the United States. Foreign orders require increased scrutiny to prevent fraud and theft. You will be required to give additional credit, personal and shipping information and the shipping of your order may be delayed while we wait for payment confirmation.



Privacy:

Any information High Point obtains on through this site will be considered private and confidential.  We do not rent, sell or give away any information regarding you or your purchases. We will contact you only in the event of a problem with your order or delivery of that order. There are however, specific areas or selection boxes on our site where you may sign up for purchasing specials, notification of special events or news about High Point.
