The new EM-400 mount was designed to fill the gap between the EM-200 and larger EM-500 mount and carries an 85 lb load. The EM-400 disassembles into three sections, the counter weight shaft, the base assembly and the R.A Dec assembly. Making transportation to remote sites easier, the three section disassemble reduces the heaviest part to 22.3 kg (49 lb) lighter than the weight of the NJP equatorial head.
The entire EM-400 rotates 360 degrees on its base for easier set up and allowing the tripod to be set in the most secure position. Preventing your cables from wrapping around in inconvenient positions, the EM-400 uses internal encoders and all the cables attach to the underside of the Dec. housing. The 8 kg counter weights use two lock secures for more secure attachment to the counter weight shaft.
