Baader 2" U-Filter

Baader Planetarium 2" U-Filter is an ultraviolet pass filter with a center wavelength of 350 nm and a bandpass of approximately 300 nm to 400 nm.

Baader 2" U-Filter Features:

  • Baader 2" U-Filter has even higher transmission and out of band blocking compared to the 1.25" model
  • Baader Planetarium U-filter transmits light from 300 nm to 400 nm and has a peak transmission of 80%
  • The U-Filter by Baader allows for successful imaging in deep UV which is typically inaccessible
  • The solar Calcium K-Line is also within the pass band of this U-Filter
  • This filter features the same high optical quality and design that all other Baader filters have in common

Baader Planetarium has yet another revolutionary and exceptional filter to add to its line. The U-filter by Baader gives amateurs the ability to successfully image in the deep UV which is a spectral region normally inaccessible. For instance the UV Filter allows amateurs to record cloud structures on Venus. Baader Planetarium U-Filter transmits from 300 nm to 400 nm, with a peak transmission of 80% because of the latest coating technologies. Through the use of a complex 20 layer dielectric coating stack on top of a special optically polished UG-11 substrate, the filter completely blocks the rest of the region from 200 nm to 1500 nm.

Deep violet colored filters or combinations, typically used by amateurs, do not produce high transmission and efficient rejection outside the important spectral region from 320 nm to 390 nm. When it comes to exploring the UV world of astronomy, landscapes, forensic, and floral imaging, the U-Filter by Baader has become the choice for imagers.
