Celestron 10x42 Regal ED Binoculars

Celestron's Regal ED Flat Field Binocular series expands on their well-received Regal ED spotting scopes. In addition to flat field lenses, this 10x42 binocular also offers an ED glass objective lens for sharp, extensive, high resolution views with extremely accurate color resolution.

Designed with regards to the most discriminating of all binocular users, the birding aficionado, Celestron's new line of premiere Regal ED Flat Field Binoculars offer high level performance. Locate fast moving targets with the help of an expansive field of view before observing them in brilliant, true-to-life color. With only 4.9 ft. of close focus, you'll be able to see animals that abruptly appear in front of you in up-close detail. Regal ED binoculars meet the expectations of even the most discerning of users. This ensures that they are ready to meet any challenge no matter what outdoor activity you have in mind for them.

ED Objective Lenses

With Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass, chromatic aberration, or color fringing, is all but completely eliminated. Frequently encountered in binoculars, chromatic aberration is a visual defect produced when various wavelengths of light get dispersed while passing through the optical lenses. Minimizing this dispersion gives images seen through these Regal ED binoculars more vibrant and realistic color. Not all ED binoculars are the same, however. Compared to binoculars without ED glass, the high quality ED glass Celestron uses for their objective lenses allows for noticeably brighter and sharper views. The distinction is particularly evident in low light conditions, such as at dawn or dusk.

Flat Field Technology

In addition to using ED glass, Regal ED binoculars incorporate flat field technology that counter-balances the normal visual field curvature convex lenses naturally show, delivering an expansive linear image all the way to the edges of the field of view.

Coatings and Prisms

All internal air-to-glass surfaces in these binoculars contain multiple layers of anti-reflectivity coatings to allow the greatest amount of light possible to be transmitted through the glass to your eye. This certifies these binoculars as “fully multi-coated.”

Regal ED binoculars have an internal prism made of high quality BaK-4 glass with both phase and dielectric coatings to reflect a greater amount of light and redirect it to your eye. Fully multi-coated optics and BaK-4 prisms combine to maximize light transmission, revealing the most vivid, highly detailed images attainable.

Binocular Body

Well-proportioned with an ergonomic industrial design, Regal ED binoculars consist of magnesium alloy construction for both resilience against general wear and tear, and minimizing weight. Whether you wear eyeglasses or not, observing sessions with the Regal ED are a pleasant experience thanks to sturdy metal twist-up eyecups with multiple click stops you can twist through to find the best position for you. These binoculars also offer full waterproof protection and are filled with dry nitrogen gas to prevent internal fogging of the lens.

Perfect for a Variety of Uses

Optimally suited for viewing natural subjects such as birds, butterflies, and plants with a close focus of only 4.9 feet, Celestron 10x42 Regal ED binoculars also provide a wide field of view for observing targets at a distance. This allows you to track their motion without having to move the binoculars around as much.

Ways to Observe

Carry your Regal ED with the included padded strap or on the cross-body carry harness for additional comfort. It’s also tripod-adaptable, so you can mount it on any standard photographic tripod for extended viewing or digiscoping (photography through the eyepiece). A tripod adapter is sold separately. The included one-piece eyepiece cover keeps rain, dust, and other substances off your eyepiece lenses in the field and protect them while in storage, while the tetherable objective covers provide additional protection for the Regal’s all-important objective ED lenses. This binocular also includes a premiere quality hard shell case for secure storage and transport.
