ED Objective Lenses

Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass virtually eliminates chromatic aberration, also known as color fringing, a visual defect common in binoculars. The Nature DX ED delivers razor sharp images, even at the edges of the field of view. ED glass is also known for producing images with outstanding, true-to-life color.

Not all ED glass is created equal. Celestron’s high quality ED glass delivers visibly brighter, sharper images compared to non-ED binoculars. The difference is especially apparent in low light conditions, such as at dawn or dusk.

Coatings and Prisms

All interior air-to-glass surfaces are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflectivity coatings for maximum light transmittance to your eye, making the Nature DX ED's optics fully multi-coated.

Nature DX ED prisms feature high quality BaK-4 glass using phase coatings to allow more light to be transmitted through to the eye by reflecting that light off their internal faces.

Taken together, the fully multi-coated lenses and BaK-4 prisms maximize light transmission for remarkably bright, highly detailed images. The ED objective lenses further enhance these features, especially in low light conditions.

The Body

Housed in a durable, rubber armored polycarbonate exterior, Nature DX ED binoculars are simultaneously lightweight and resistant to damage. Sturdy twist-up eyecups enable comfortable viewing for both eyeglass and non-eyeglasses wearers alike. Easily find the optimal position for your eye using multiple click-stops. Furthermore, Nature DX ED binoculars are fully waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen gas to keep all internal lenses from fogging. These binoculars can withstand even the harshest outdoor conditions.

Perfect for a Variety of Uses

With a close focus of only 6.5 feet, these 8x42 Nature DX ED Binoculars are perfect for viewing birds, butterflies, plants, or other nearby subjects. For distance viewing, the 8x42 model offers a wide field of view so you can easily follow subjects as they move with less need to move the binoculars.

Ways to Observe

Comfortably carry your Nature DX ED binoculars using the included strap. Tripod adaptable, these binoculars can be mounted to any standard photographic tripod for extended viewing or digiscoping (photography through the eyepiece). Tripod adapter sold separately. A protective padded nylon case is also included for protection during storage and transport.
