Celestron Astromaster

In terms of popularity, the Celestron Astromaster 114 is, hands down, the winner! This little telescope is priced right and comes with almost everything you will need to get started!

Does the Celestron Astromaster 114 track objects? Yes! You can purchase the Celestron Astromaster Motor Drive, and it will allow you to track a celestial object once you have aligned it with your telescope. This is a great inexpensive accessory upgrade that will help you get the most out of your scope set up.

Celestron AstroMaster’s come both as an equatorially mounted telescope as well as an alt-azimuth mounted telescope. Only the equatorially mounted versions of the AstroMaster will allow for tracking with the motor drive upgrade. The alt-azimuth style mounts are great for point and shoot convenience, but it is important to note that they are more difficult for extended views of the night sky.

In addition to the Celestron AstroMaster 114, we also really like the Celestron AstroMaster 130 equatorially mounted telescope and the Celestron Astromaster 90mm refractor on an alt azimuth mount. Both are excellent quality and offer the most value!
