DayStar Gemini Quark Solar Filter Eyepiece

This DayStar Solar Filter Eyepiece is made to work with refracting telescopes, particularly those with focal ratios of f/4 to f/8.

The Gemini Quark combines the functions of the narrow Chromosphere Quark and the wide Prominences Quark into one! With both of these in the same housing unit, there is no need for equipment swapping or refocusing.

How to Use the Gemini Quark

To use the Gemini, all you have to do is push the slider arm to either side. Moving to one side will show the broad-stroked prominences that have a wider bandpass, and the other side will show the higher contrasts that come with the narrow bandpass.

Important note regarding use with Energy Rejection Filters (ERF) from Daystar

  • For use with refractors with Oil Spaced Objective Lenses, a front mounted ERF is MANDATORY regardless of aperture to preserve the performance of the telescope.
  • For use with refractors with Air Spaced Objective Lenses:
    • Up to 80mm in aperture, no ERF is required, either in front of the diagonal or over the front of the telescope.
    • With 80mm to 150mm in aperture, a UV/IR blocking filter placed in front of the diagonal will be sufficient.
    • With 150mm in aperture and higher, a front mounted ERF as well as a UV/IR in front of the diagonal is required.
