Back by popular demand, Orion is reintroducing their 110 mm f/6 EON ED Apochromatic Refractor, this time with new upgrades to make it an even better value!

For astronomers interested in deep-sky astrophotography or wide-field observing, this sleek black beauty inhabits a highly coveted "sweet-spot." With an abundant 110 mm (4.3") of aperture, the Orion EON collects photons emitted by faint deep-sky objects, while an air-spaced doublet objective lens consisting of FPL-51 extra-low dispersion (ED) optical glass delivers ultra-sharp images as well as superior color correction. The 110 mm EON refractor's 660 mm focal length enables fast f/6 performance for effective use both visually and for deep-sky imaging.

Now the EON 110 ED has been upgraded with a twist-tight 2" focuser collar and a 1.25" twist-tight adapter for quick and ultra-secure attachment of accessories to the focuser. A simple clockwise twist of the knurled aluminum collar precisely centers any inserted eyepiece or accessory and holds it firmly in place. There are no little thumbscrews to fumble with! Both collars feature non-marring brass compression rings. Also, the EON 110 now comes with a pre-installed dovetail finder scope base ready for the addition of any Orion finder scope or reflex sight (sold separately).

In addition to being an excellent wide-field performer, the Orion EON 110 Refractor is also conveniently compact, measuring less than 22" in length when its sliding dew shield is fully retracted, allowing for easy portability. Contrary to heftier astro-imaging telescopes, a medium-sized mount like the Orion Sirius EQ-G will suffice for support. Despite being jam-packed with a slew of performance enhancing features, the 110 mm EON still costs thousands less than multi-element apochromatic refractors of similar aperture.

Take a closer look and you'll find even more to like about the EON 110 ED refractor including fully multi-coated for maximum light throughput so you'll get the most out of each and every photon collected by the telescope. Three optimally placed knife-edge baffles inside the optical tube ensure rich contrast by eliminating off-axis reflections and glare that can be detrimental to both visual and astrophotographic pursuits. The 2.7" hybrid-drive rack-and-pinion focuser outperforms most Crayfords. An integral 8-ball-bearing system, helical gear drive, and dual-speed (11:1) motion control gives this focuser both silky smoothness and unflinching rigidity. The focuser also features a patented focus lock mechanism that locks the drawtube in two directions, providing a much more fixed lock than most focusers. In fact the focuser is solid enough to easily support astrophotography equipment trains weighing up to a whopping 17 lbs. without slippage!

The Orion EON 110 mm ED APO's focuser can be rotated in two places, allowing camera framing to be set independently from your preferred positioning of the apochromatic refractor telescope's focus knobs. This rugged focuser's drawtube sports an engraved millimeter scale to aid in focus point repeatability - a great time-saver during astrophotography sessions. For wide-field visual use during the day or night, 1.25" and 2" diagonals and eyepieces can be used with the EON 110 ED refractor. An optional Orion Field Flattener for Short Refractors (sold separately) is available and recommended for astrophotographic use.

A set of two hinged optical tube rings outfitted with pre-drilled and tapped 1/4"-20 holes along both the top and bottom for easy attachment to a dovetail mounting plate is included with the Orion 110 mm f/6 EON ED APO Refractor, along with a hard, aluminum-clad carrying case with interior die-cut foam to keep your instrument protected and clean while being transported or stored. Dimensions for this hard case are 28.75" x 9.25" x 9.75".

With flat-out gorgeous workmanship, exceptional optical performance, smooth-adjusting yet rigid focuser and more, the Orion EON 110 mm ED Refractor will delight any astrophotographer, apochromat aficionado, or wide-field stargazer seeking that "sweet spot" telescope - a high-end, fast refractor at a refreshingly affordable price.
