Zhumell 1.25" Laser Collimator

For effective collimation of your Newtonian Reflector, this 45º 1.25" Laser Collimator from Zhumell is the perfect tool. Keeping your Newtonian in collimation (or alignment) is vital to the prevention of imperfect images. For instance, when the optics are out of alignment, stars will not have razor sharp focus and planets will appear somewhat hazy. The most efficient way of preventing this is the collimate your reflector using this laser collimator.

Collimating a Newtonian reflector couldn't be easier! After placing the laser collimator in your telescope's focuser, turn it on and the laser beam will reflect off your telescope's optics before returning to the 45º viewing surface on the side of the collimator. You'll know your optics are collimated if the laser returns to the exact point at which it was projected from. On the other hand, if the laser returns to any other region of the 45º viewing surface, you'll know your telescope is out of alignment and the proper modifications will need to be made.

Three recessed screws on the Zhumell 1.25" Laser Collimator body have been used for factory alignment. Your collimator will not work properly if these screws are adjusted. Three included LR44 lithium batteries are used to power this unit.

Caution: This collimator uses a safe 5 mW laser, common to most laser collimators. Nevertheless, exposing this laser, either directly or reflected off your telescope's mirror, to your eye could cause permanent damage! Be careful when using this collimator. This is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children.
