Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ5i Hybrid GoTo Mount with WiFi Control

If you’re looking for a medium-capacity telescope mount that can operate in either alt-azimuth or equatorial modes, has the ability to handle two telescopes at once with a payload capacity of 30 pounds, and offers GoTo capabilities with a huge celestial object database, you will definitely want to consider the Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ5i.

A hybrid telescope mount is so flexible! When doing visual work, set it up in Alt-Azimuth mode. If you are doing outreach at a school or want to share your views at a star party, the Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ5i comes with a secondary V-style mounting saddle so that you can mount two telescopes: one on each side of the mount! When you are ready to do some astrophotography, simply switch over to Equatorial mode. Features like Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PPEC), low backlash, and +/- 5 arc seconds of native periodic error correction will support your imaging pursuits. The built-in GoTo capabilities, complete with SynScan Wi-Fi dongle to connct to the 42,900+ object database, helps you find and track the objects of your choosing.

The included SynScan Wi-Fi dongle allows for wireless control through the SynScan Pro app for Apple, Android, or Windows devices. The user-friendly menu system allows automatic slewing to over 42,900+ objects after a simple two-star alignment procedure is performed. A hand controller (sold separately) can also be used.

The Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ5 mount has a weight capacity of 30 pounds, but it is very portable, weighing only 16.9 lb. Two 7.5 lb. counterweights are part of the AZ-EQ5i package, and additional counterweights are available optionally should you require them. A counterweight shaft extension is also included, and as you can see from the pictures, provides a place for cords to go so they do not become entangled in the mount as it slews from place to place. The steel adjustable height tripod is sturdy and offers good support for the AZ-EQ5i mount.

The AZ-EQ5i comes with everything you need to set up and control your mount. Included is the mount itself, an adjustable steel tripod, a pier extension, two Vixen-style dovetails for dual-OTA setups, a 12V DC power cable, two 7.5-pound counterweights, a retractable counterweight bar, counterweight extension bar, and the SynScan Wi-Fi dongle for wireless computer control.

Wireless Control
The included Sky-Watcher SynScan Wi-Fi dongle allows for wireless control of your AZ-EQ5i mount. Through a Wi-Fi network, users are able to use the SynScan Pro app for iOS, Android, and Windows devices allowing for easy, convenient, and wireless navigation and control.
