Although a fun and rewarding hobby, astrophotography can sometimes be difficult for those just getting started due to the expensive nature of so many of the cameras. Orion's StarShoot 1.3MP Solar System V Imaging Camera is the solution. This imager packs extremely small 2.2 µm x 2.2 µm pixels for high resolution at an affordable cost. Lunar and planetary details are remarkably accessible even without a significant investment in a costly camera. With this camera, the rings of Saturn, Jupiter's cloud bands, and tiny craters on the lunar surface are all within reach for an affordable price.

With the Orion StarShoot Solar System V, using your telescope to capture lunar and planetary detail is an enjoyable process due to the simple software included. An integrated Micron MT9P031 1/2.5" format CMOS chip with a 1280 x 1024 array consisting of incredibly minute 2.2 µm square pixels results in an outstanding 1.3MP resolution in 24-bit color. Creating a single photo from stacking multiple exposures generates a substantial increase in image detail. Exposure can be manually adjusted from 0.001 seconds to 0.4 seconds, enabling precise exposure.

This camera's 1.25" nosepiece is threaded for 1.25" eyepiece filters, allowing astrophotography filters and color visual filters to enhance your shots. Below the 1.25" nozzle is a standard c-mount thread, making the camera suitable for a wide variety of applications such as attaching security camera lenses and mounting on many microscopes. And don't forget that you can add a 2x or higher magnification Barlow lens for even greater resolution!

A download link for software, compatible with Windows 7/8/10, as well as Mac OS X (10.11 and newer), is included. Web links are provided in the manual for downloading popular free image processing software to be used with your files to further enhance your astrophotos. Image processing software allows you to align and stack (combine) hundreds of individual images into a single resultant image and perform additional image processing to bring out subtle details or to make the image appear more pleasing overall.
