Astronomik MC Replacement Clear Glass for Canon EOS DSLR Cameras

Designed to convert Canon EOS DSLR cameras for enhanced astro-imaging, the Astronomik MC clear filter contains a special glass that allows the camera to fully benefit from the spectral sensitivity of the CMOS sensor. Different cameras require different sized filters, and thus Astronomik has made these MC clear glass filters available in various sizes to meet these requirements. Fine optically polished and multi-mirrored, the primary function of MC (Multi-Coated) glass is balancing the optical path for cameras that have had their filters taken out. MC clear filters also prevent the appearance of noticeable spots while shooting by not allowing dirt particles to accumulate on the sensor. Furthermore, MC clear glass filters have no filtering effect, in spite of their name, and block neither infrared nor UV light.

For cameras that have been rebuilt using Astronomik MC clear glass, a supplementary filter that obstructs either infrared or visible light, depending on which area of the spectrum is being photographed, is required for the optical path in order for imaging with camera lenses, adapters on refractors, or flatteners, reducers, and other light-breaking elements to work properly. Astronomik suggests the use of their OWB or Original White Balance clip filter, which reclaims the sensitivity the camera originally had prior to conversion, for terrestrial photography, and at least one L-filter in the optical path for visible light astrophotography. For IR photography, Astronomik recommends either the ProPlanet 742 or ProPlanet 807 IR-Pass filters.

More About Astronomik MC Clear Glass Cover

Preventing dust from gathering on your imaging system is the primary task of Astronomik MC Clear Glass Filters. These filters feature multi-coatings (MC) that prohibit unusual reflections, as well as scratch resistance and substrate quality identical to all other filters offered by Astronomik. Optimally equipped for telescopes that do not contain any refracting elements, this filter does not block either infrared or UV light.

This is the optimal filter for when it is necessary to keep your imaging system's focal plane as well as other Astronomik filters in the same location. These other Astronomik filters will remain parfocal with your imaging system when the Astronomik MC Glass Filter is employed.

Made in Germany using the exact same sophisticated process used to create all other Astronomik filters, the Astronomik MC Clear Glass Filter boasts the same scratch resistance and high quality substrate. This makes the MC Clear Filter parfocal with all other Astronomik filter models and allows it to serve as a satisfactory dust protector for the front of DSLR cameras as well as Schmidt-Cassegrain, Schmidt-Newtonian and Maksutov systems without modifying the spectral characteristics or losing any of your system's optical performance.
