This is a Meade Variable Projection Photo Adapter for your telescope. It enables you to do astrophotography with your 35 mm SLR camera in two different possible ways. The first method is called eyepiece projection photography. You first remove the eyepiece from your scope. Place the eyepiece inside this Variable Projection Photo Adapter by Meade, and fasten it in place with the set screw provided. Then attach this Photo Adapter to the appropriate T-Ring for your particular camera body (T-Ring is sold separately). The T-Ring will be attached directly to your camera body instead of a lens! With the camera thus attached, place this assembly into the normal 1.25" focuser barrel, and you are ready to do eyepiece projection photography with high magnification (depending on the focal length of your eyepiece).

Or, you can disassemble the front portion of this Meade Variable Projection Photo Adapter by unscrewing the barrel, which will reveal a T-Thread section. Screw this T-Thread directly into your appropriate T-Ring, and you can place this (plus attached camera body) into a standard 1.25" focuser barrel, and you are ready to do prime focus photography with your camera. The image size will then be determined solely by the focal length of your telescope.

Each complete Meade Variable Projection Camera Adapter (camera and T-Ring NOT included) consists of two separable units for either prime focus or eyepiece-projection photography. The Variable-Projection Camera Adapter includes a sliding mechanism, permitting variable projection distances during eyepiece projection photography, avoiding the need to switch to higher power eyepieces when additional projection enlargement is desired. For use with 1.25" focusers and "streamlined" 1.25" eyepieces.

You'll need to take precautions to minimize vibrations, such as locking up the mirror if possible, as well as using a cable release or remote control to fire the shutter. Ultra-telephoto photography is easily achieved with your telescope by purchasing this SLR camera adapter.
