Astronomik SII 12 nm CCD EOS M Clip Filter

Please Note : The "M" series of Astronomik filters are designed to work with the new mirrorless cameras from Canon.

  • Canon EOS clip format Astronomik SII 12 nm CCD Filter made for Canon EOS M series camera models M1, M10, M3, M5, and M6, along with all lenses with an EF-M bayonet, and any lens with EF and EF-S bayonets via the use of an optional adapter
  • Made specifically for the purposes of CCD astrophotography
  • Designed with the highest technical standards in mind to offer the optical efficiency needed to perform deep sky imaging operations with your CCD camera
  • Ionized sulfur (SII) light is allowed to be transmitted while the whole remainder of the visual spectrum plus IR is blocked
  • Approximately 12 nm FWHM bandwidth
  • Optimally suited for imaging planetary nebulae and supernova remnants
  • German-designed for high optical quality!

More About Astronomik SII 12 nm CCD Filters

For CCD astrophotography applications, you would be hard pressed to find a more ideal narrowband filter than the Astronomik SII 12 nm CCD Filter. Its 12 nm FWHM (full width at half maximum) is optimal for standard CCD cameras, enabling the use of extremely fast optics. The f/number application range spans from 1:2.8 to 1:15. Transmission reductions and chromatic aberrations, sometimes an issue with other filters, only arise with Astronomik filters when severely bright 1:2 and more aperture ratios are involved. Another advantage of 12 nm filters is the greater guide star availability for cameras that incorporate an autoguider. Up to 99% transmission.

An excellent filter for heavy light pollution management, the Astronomik SII 12 nm CCD Filter boosts contrast between objects in the SII emission line and the skyglow background while completely suppressing the emission lines of artificial mercury (Hg) and sodium (Na) light, as well as skyglow. With the Astronomik SII 12 nm CCD Filter, you'll observe razor sharp stars identical to those you're used to seeing with your regular telescope due to the supreme quality of the substrate.

All unwanted visible and IR spectral band wavelengths are fully obstructed with this SII 12 nm CCD EOS M Clip Filter from Astronomik. Like all Astronomik filters, this filter is also parfocal with all other Astronomik filters. It has an ultra thin substrate and is diffraction limited to preserve your telescope's optical performance. Coatings offer total protection from scratching as well as the effects of aging and high humidity. Each Astronomik filter is shipped with a long-lasting, supreme quality plastic filter container.

Astronomik EOS M Clip Filter System

Exclusive to Astronomik, this EOS M Clip-Filter system is constructed from black anodized aluminum and laser-cut on modern machinery. In a matter of mere seconds, this filter can be inserted directly into the body of Canon EOS M model cameras such as the M1, M10, M3, M5, and M6. No adjustments are necessary and all lens operations such as focus, screen, and image stabilization, remain operational! These filters are also compatible with all EF-M lenses known at present, as well as with all other lenses with Canon EF and EF-S bayonets via an adapter. Telescope use is of course also a possibility. This system also doubles as a dust protector, keeping dust from gathering on your sensor during long exposures.

Transmission Specifications

  • More than 97% transmission in the ionized sulfur (SII) line
  • Blocks almost the entire remainder of the visual spectrum
  • Blocks undesirable Infrared wavelengths
