The CGX GoTo German Equatorial Mount From Celestron!

As an industry leader in development of prime astrophotography equipment, Celestron has engineered this CGX mount with a high payload capacity, a user friendly design, multiple means of control, and plenty more! Carefully engineered internal mechanics provide smooth tracking across the night sky for sharp views and pinpoint stars within your astroimages. This ingenuity from Celestron makes the CGX is a must have for any backyard astronomer!

Utilizing a belt drive system and reduced friction gear mesh, easily pack on up to 55lbs of equipment and enjoy smooth, precise GoTo maneuvering and tracking. The ergonomic design of this Celestron CGX further enhances user experience with two well-placed carry handles, making relocation effortless. Easy to grip dovetail clamping knobs and a large latitude adjuster facilitates set up and a dual CG-5/Vixen and CGE/Losmandy saddle provides great versatility! Internal cabling reduces the chance of cable snags and offers improved organization. Due to these integrated cables, the mount is assembled with a mechanical hard stop to prevent damage to these wires while also reducing the possibility of your equipment colliding into the tripod. Internal home and limit sensors can determine its current pointing position no matter its orientation prior to power down. These sensors further protect your gear by automatically shutting off slewing or tracking if the limit index is reached. Operate this heavy duty Celestron mount with your favorite ASCOM software, Celestron PWI, or the included NexStar+ hand controller. With these incredible features, it’s easy to see why the Celestron CGX is one of the most sought after telescope mounts on the market today!

User-Orientated Design

Built with you in mind, Celestron has added numerous ergonomic features to make your life easier. Two befitting handles make transport and set up effortless, and easy to grip dovetail knobs quickly tighten your OTA into place. Even under high payloads, the large latitude adjustment knobs smoothly shift the north or south positioning of your mount with ease. Understanding the frustration of cable management, Celestron has fixed the necessary cables within the mount itself. This reduction of external cords helps prevent cable snags and possible equipment damage. Also included is the ability to concentrate the center of gravity over the tripod with an adjustable EQ head position. This further enhances stability as well as optimizes the increased 3°-65° latitude range.

A Rock-Steady High Payload Telescope Mount

Celestron has packed this CGX mount with numerous aspects sure to take your astronomy journey to the next level. Load up this telescope mount with a wide variety of equipment thanks to its large payload and sturdy tripod, take advantage of its precise tracking abilities, and enjoy effortless set up with its ergonomic design. Celestron has included multiple means of control for this CGX mount, whether that be through the included Celestron PWI, ASCOM supported programs, or the added NexStar+ hand controller. With features like these along with many more, this Celestron CGX is perfect for backyard astronomers! Read more about this high payload powerhouse below.

Large Payload, High Precision
As opposed to driving the worm gear with spur gears, a design that is notorious for producing backlash, Celestron has included a belt and pulley system to significantly reduce any backlash seen while simultaneously providing smooth motor operation. The robust belt drives won’t stretch nor jade, enhancing the longevity and durability of this high end mount. Both axes include stainless steel worm gears and a spring loaded brass worm wheel to optimize gear mesh. This means the gears maintain ideal contact without binding to further reduce backlash and enhance tracking abilities! Improved motors provide higher torque, contributing to the 55lb weight capacity. Easily set a Celestron EdgeHD 11 OTA, Celestron C11 SCT, and plenty more high focal length telescopes atop this mount. This Celestron CGX also features a lower profile for better stability.

Included NexStar+ Hand Controller
Coming standard with a NexStar+ hand controller, star align, polar align, perform GoTo slews, and manage tracking rates of your Celestron CGX. This hand controller features a red backlit Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen to preserve your night vision. With over 40,000 objects within its database, explore the universe with your Celestron CGX! You even have to option to add up to 100 user-defined programmable objects within this hand controller. Nineteen large LED backlit buttons make it effortless to navigate through the controls, and the 2 line x 18 character display is easy to read. Furnished with a USB 2.0 port, connect it directly to your computer to control this mount with software of your choice. Please note: Celestron does not include a USB cable with their hand controller. We recommend the Apertura USB 2.0 Cable for Celestron NexStar+ Hand Controllers.

Extensive Software Compatibility
This Celestron CGX comes standard with its own control software for operation of this mount! Developed in conjunction with PlaneWave Instruments, this application is supplied with multi-point mount modeling, resulting in high pointing accuracy. A dedicated USB port on the mount itself allows connection to your computer. Please note: this USB port is only for use with the included CGX software. Use with any other software requires connection through the NexStar+ hand controller. You may also utilize Celestron Starry Night and even the SkyPortal app by attaching the SkyPortal WiFi Module (not included). Fully ASCOM compatible, enjoy using your CGX with your favorite third party software!

Numerous Ports and a Solid Power Connection
Fitted with two auxiliary ports, connect your NexStar+ hand controller as well as user supplied accessories such as the Celestron StarSense AutoAlign or SkyPortal WiFi Module. On the hand controller itself, a USB 2.0 port offers connection to your computer for software control of your choice! An autoguider port is also available for direct attachment to your guide camera. As mentioned above, the mount itself comes complete with a USB 2.0 port for use with the included software designed specifically for the CGX. Readied with a DC power cable, insert this cable into the 12V 4A power port found on the mount head. This power link stays stationary when the mount is slewing, and features a threaded barrel connector to prevent accidental power disconnection during your night of imaging.

Various Polar Alignment Methods
As this CGX mount doesn’t include a polar scope due to its internal cabling, polar alignment can be achieved numerous different ways. The innovation of the NexStar+ hand controller features an All-Star Polar Alignment routine to accurately align your telescope with the north or south celestial pole. This feature only needs bright stars for accurate alignment, meaning if your view to the NCP or SPC is obstructed, you can still polar align with incredible precision! Simply follow the instructions laid out on the hand controller’s LCD screen and you’re all set! In addition to this hand controller method, you can also achieve polar alignment through your favorite software with a USB computer connection. If you would like a more traditional method to polar align your telescope mount, attach the external Polar Axis Finderscope for CGX and CGX-L Mounts (not included). This accessory acts just like a regular polar scope, and features a simple reticle map for effortless alignment.

Strong and Sturdy Steel Tripod
This Celestron CGX comes standard with a robust, heavy duty tripod to affix your telescope mount onto. The 2” steel legs are equipped with height index marks for quick leveling and can easily be collapsed for quick transport. Its wider stance greatly improves stability of your set up and the included “Jack of all trays” spreader bar further enhances its sturdiness. This accessory tray can hold three 1.25” eyepieces, two 2” eyepieces, your smartphone, and plenty more!

Optimized for Backyard Observing
With inclusions such equipment safety mechanisms, a heavy duty build, and extensive software support, this Celestron CGX mount is perfect for home observatory astrophotographers. The home and limit sensors coupled with the physical hard stop provide an ease of mind when you are away from your set up by helping to prevent accidental equipment collisions with the tripod.
