The CGX-L GoTo German Equatorial Mount From Celestron!

Celestron has upgraded their principal CGX telescope and introduces the CGX-L! A whopping 75lb payload capacity allows you to pack on a wide variety of equipment while still providing precise tracking capabilities, added ports aid in cable management and offers increased accessories additions, and enhanced ergonomics to make your life easier. Push the limits of amateur astrophotography with this Celestron CGX-L Equatorial Mount!

To optimize performance, the CGX-L is assembled with an internal belt drive system. This utilization of belts and the introduction of larger worm wheels provide smooth tracking across the night sky! Supporting 75lbs, a longer dovetail has been designed for this CGX-L to accommodate larger OTAs. While having a 20lb increase in load capacity than the CGX, this CGX-L only weighs ~8lb heavier. Making transport and set up breeze is the well-placed carry handles, and internal cabling contributes to the compact design and helps prevent equipment damage from dreaded cable snags. Equipped with a NexStar+ hand controller, star align, perform GoTo slews, and even polar align with the All Star Polar Alignment feature designed by Celestron. With characteristics like these, the CGX-L is a must have for those wanting to take their astronomy journey to the next level!

Ergonomically Designed

Celestron has furnished this CGX-L with useful additions to maximize user experience. With the mount head coming in at ~53lbs, two befitting handles can be found at the base of the mount as well as below the dovetail saddle for easy, comfortable transport. This 270mm dovetail saddle makes it easy to balance heavy OTAs and features large, easy to grip tightening knobs to secure your equipment into place. While polar aligning, the robust latitude adjustment offers smooth, seamless maneuvering even under heavy loads. Celestron has redesigned the azimuth adjustment with low-friction Teflon bearings to further enhance your polar alignment experience! Cable management is made easy with the internal cabling system, and strategically placed ports to minimize loose cords that can get caught while tracking. Also included is the ability to focus the center of gravity over your tripod or pier with an adjustable EQ head position. This further enhances stability as well as optimizes the increased 3°-65° latitude range.

A High Caliber, Substantial Payload Telescope Mount

This feature-packed equatorial mount is a must have for those looking to upgrade their astronomy experience. With qualities such as high precision internal mechanics, the ability to pack on heavy, premier equipment, and a user friendly design, its easy to see why this the CGX-L is a prime option for backyard and remote observers. Read more about this 75lb payload workhorse below!

75lb Payload, High Precision Tracking
To support the higher payload, Celestron has introduced larger 144mm worm wheels in both axes. These worm wheels are spring loaded, resulting in optimized gear mesh throughout each gear coupling for even and consistent tracking! As a belt driven system, backlash is significantly reduced while response time is greatly enhanced for higher precision and smoother motor operation even under heavy loads. These belts were built to last, and will not stretch nor jade over time. A larger counterweight shaft has been integrated for the addition of 22lb counterweights from Celestron, and the mount head itself features a lower profile for improved stability. Easily set a Celestron EdgeHD 14 OTA, Celestron 11" RASA Telescope OTA, and plenty more high focal length telescopes atop this mount!

Included NexStar+ Hand Controller
Coming standard with a NexStar+ hand controller, star align, polar align, perform GoTo slews, and manage tracking rates of your Celestron CGX-L. This hand controller features a red backlit Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen to preserve your night vision. With over 40,000 objects within its database, explore the universe with your Celestron CGX-L! You even have to option to add up to 100 user-defined programmable objects within this hand controller. Nineteen large LED backlit buttons make it effortless to navigate through the controls, and the 2 line x 18 character display is easy to read. Extensive Software Compatibility
The Celestron PWI software comes standard with this CGX-L mount for optimized control of your equatorial mount. This application was designed in collaboration with PlaneWave Instruments and delivers exceptional pointing accuracy thanks to its multi-point modeling. Fully ASCOM compatible, utilize your favorite third party software such as NINA, Astro Photography Tool, and plenty more! Wanting to use your smartphone or tablet to control your CGX-L? Add the Sky Portal WiFi Module (not included) for control through the SkyPortal app!

Additional Ports and a Secure Power Connection
With a total of 4 AUX ports, enjoy adding accessories of your choice to enhance your CGX-L experience! In addition to this, another autoguider port has also been integrated within this equatorial mount. Placement of these ports assists in keeping you organized: Two of the AUX ports as well as one of the autoguider ports moves with the dovetail saddle itself. This further reduces the chances of cable snags. In order to prevent accidental power disconnection, the power port is assembled with a threaded barrel to keep your power cord secure and in place, and remains stationary during tracking or mount slews. To connect your computer, the USB 2.0 port on the NexStar+ hand controller offers software control with programs of your choice!

Various Polar Alignment Methods
Thanks to the ingenuity from Celestron, polar align your mount even if your view to the celestial poles is obstructed! The All Star Polar Alignment routine fitted within the NexStar+ only requires a few bright stars for precise polar alignment. This is ideal for those who are in areas where buildings or trees are in the way of the NCP or SCP. You can also utilize your favorite software for polar alignment via USB connection to your computer. For those wanting a more traditional method of polar alignment, Celestron has designed an external Polar Axis Finderscope for CGX and CGX-L Mounts (not included). This polar scope is readied with a reticle map of the night sky for effortless alignment.

Perfect for Backyard or Remote Observatories
Looking to set up a remote observatory or engage in backyard observing? This CGX-L is ideal for both! Equipment protection mechanisms give you a peace of mind knowing your gear stays safe without having to constantly monitor your rig. The home and limit sensors as well as the mechanical hard stop work together to prevent accidental collisions with the tripod or pier. Your power supply remains intact with the threaded, fixed power port, and strategically placed AUX and autoguiding ports help prevent loose cables from getting caught. With its weight of 53lbs, counterweight of 22lbs, and 75lb payload, this burly mount was meant for high end, large OTAs and stationary set ups. Thanks to the innovation from Celestron, this CGX-L greatly expands the possibilities for amateur astrophotographers.
