Celestron NexStar 4SE Essential Bundle

Includes a 2X Barlow, Red LED Flashlight,
Lens Cleaning Tool and Moon Filter!

The Celestron NexStar 4SE Essential Bundle includes useful telescope accessories that have been hand-picked by High Point Scientific to provide you with a quality astronomy experience!

The Celestron NexStar 4SE is super popular for its portability as well as excellent optics and computerized GoTo electronics! With 4" of aperture, you can enjoy the Moon, Venus, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn as well as a large selection of bright deep-sky objects, including our stunning sister galaxy, Andromeda, the Orion Nebula, brightest jewel of northern winter skies, as well as other galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, double stars and planetary nebulae! The award-winning Celestron NexStar computerized electronics and easy-to-use hand controller will find objects for you at a push of a button, and there are plenty of optional accessories available to increase the fun and enjoyment of this amazing GoTo telescope!

The NexStar 4SE telescope comes standard with a red dot finder, innovative flip mirror diagonal, 25 mm eyepiece and even a special edition of Starry Night software to get you started with observing the very first night you take it out of the box, but the High Point NexStar 4SE Essential Bundle includes additional accessories that will enhance your astronomy experience:

  • Double the magnification of any 1.25” eyepiece with the included 2X Barlow Lens from Apertura! Right off the bat, you can use the 25 mm eyepiece by itself for 53X magnification, but when you place the eyepiece in the 2X Barlow, your magnification will double, giving you 106X, a great magnification for the moon and planets! As you add more 1.25” eyepieces to your telescope system, each of them will effectively offer two different magnifications with the addition of the Barlow!
  • A red flashlight is an essential accessory for all amateur astronomers, and we have included the Apertura Red LED Flashlight so that you can protect your night vision while observing. When you step outside for the first time, it is harder to see in the dark. That is because the pupils of your eyes are adjusted for the brighter light of your home. It takes approximately 30 minutes for your pupils to fully adjust to the darkness, and once they have adapted you will be able to see better, not only as you move around but at the eyepiece as well. A red flashlight can help you read a star chart or find something you’ve dropped without messing with your precious night vision.
  • A moon filter is also considered essential and here’s why! Besides allowing you to see more detail the Moon or check out the phases of Jupiter more easily, the filtering helps keep your eyes dark adapted. Trust me, one look at the full moon unfiltered will ruin the view of any other object through your telescope for quite some time afterwards. To use the included Apertura 1.25” Moon Filter, just thread it onto the barrel end of any 1.25” eyepiece, insert the eyepiece into the diagonal, and you are good to go.
  • Last but not least, we have included an Apertura Lens Pen in this essential bundle. Use this pen to gently clean away particles that land on your telescope’s corrector plate (the glass at the front of the telescope) or your eyepieces or filters. One end terminates in a brush, and the other in a cleaning disc that will remove sticky residue like pollen.

This Celestron telescope yields super crisp images of the night sky and once aligned finds objects with dead-on accuracy. The NexStar 4SE by Celestron sits on a sturdy tripod which offers maximum stability when looking at distant objects. The hand controller on the telescope allows you to move the scope at your discretion. The NexStar 4SE hand controller offers a tour of the night sky and easily allows you to locate planets, galaxies or any of the 40,000 celestial objects in its database. About the Apertura 2X Barlow Lens...

This Apertura 2x Barlow lens features fully multi-coated optics and is designed for use with 1.25-inch eyepieces and filters. It is a great way to extend the functionality of all your eyepieces! And at 3.1-inches long, this Barlow has a low-profile, not adding excessive height to your focuser setup.

Knowledgeable experts agree that the most economical way to enhance the magnification range of your eyepiece collection is with a 2x Barlow lens. In addition to the multi-coated optics, the Apertura 2x Barlow has blackened lens edges, filter threads, and a secure thumb screw--a great value for the price!

  • Fully multi-coated optics
  • Blackened lens edges
  • Rubberized exterior for secure gripping
  • Thumb-screw for securing eyepieces to the Barlow
  • For use with 1.25-inch eyepieces and filters

About the Apertura Red LED Flashlight...

Keep your eyes dark-adapted during any activity at night with this mini red flashlight from Apertura!  Amateur astronomers go to a lot of trouble to keep their skies as dark as possible, from turning off porch lights to driving out of the city in search of  pristinely dark skies.  It takes about a half-hour for your eyes to truly adapt to the dark, and once that happens you will be able to see more detail and much fainter objects.  Don't ruin that dark adaptation by turning on a white flashlight to find an accessory or read a star chart!  When you use the Apertura Red Flashlight instead, your eyes will not react near as much as they do to white light, and they will stay dark-adapted.  Think of how much easier it is to see objects in the bedroom after the lights have been off for awhile.  Turning the light off let's your eyes adapt to the dark so you can see better.  In the same way, not using white light (and getting away from sources of light as much as you can) lets your eyes adapt to the dark and lets you see more stars, galaxies, nebulae...more celestial objects, and that is the name of the game when it comes to astronomy, right?

By the way, if you use a computer or your smartphone, you can buy rubylith film at an art store to make red covers for the screens.  Also use smaller pieces to cover the interior lights of your car!  It may not be perfect, but it will help quite a bit in the fight against white light! This red flashlight is short enough to fit easily in most astronomy accessory cases, your glove compartment, backpack, computer bag or purse.

About the Apertura Moon Filter...

The Moon is bright and this Moon Filter is just the thing for more comfortable (and rewarding!) viewing. It's like putting sunglasses on your telescope eyepiece! To use, simply thread onto the barrel of any 1.25" eyepiece or Barlow lens and then insert into the focuser or diagonal as usual. You will be amazed at how lunar features, such as craters big and small, maria, and mountains come into view when your eyes are not overpowered by the moon's brightness. This Moon Filter works well for Venus as well!

The Apertura moon filter has been produced with high grade optical glass and is anti-reflection coated to prevent glaring and ghosting. For the price, you can't beat this filter as it should be a staple in any astronomy filter collection.

About the Apertura Lens Cleaning Pen...

The Apertura Lens Pen is just the tool you need to do a quick cleaning job on all of your smaller optics! Use the retractable brush to gently remove dust and any other loose particles. That may be all the cleaning your small telescope, binoculars, camera lenses, or eyepieces need, but if there is still some smudges, use the other end of the Apertura Lens Pen to gently remove them. The special non-liquid cleaning element is designed to be gentle yet effective and will never dry out.

Whenever the Apertura Lens Pen is not in use, make sure to retract the cleaning brush and use the cap. This Lens Pen is so portable; you can keep It in your camera bag or astronomy accessory case so it will always be available when you need it. Remember, only clean your optics when you have to! A few specks of dust is normal and won't usually interfere with your observations. If you do need to clean, always choose the tool with the least impact on the surface of the glass first. Taking care to only clean your optics when absolutely necessary will help keep the coatings intact and scratch-free.
