Celestron 60mm Alt-Azimuth ExploraScope Refractor
If you are looking for an inexpensive beginner's telescope that is easy to use but will help you explore our solar system, check out the Celestron 60AZ ExploraScope! This classic refractor telescope has fully coated glass optics that will gather 73X more light than your eyes alone. This means you can explore lunar details with clarity, and you'll also be able to gaze upon the rings of Saturn and see Jupiter and its four largest moons. Take a trip outside our solar system and take a look at the Andromeda Galaxy, the huge globular cluster, M13, or the wispy, hauntingly beautiful Orion Nebula. Also, because this telescope comes with an image-erect diagonal, you can use it during daylight hours to get closeup views of wildlife, ships at sea, and so much more. The Celestron 60AZ ExploraScope weighs a total of 5.2 pounds, making it easy to move for most everyone, including school-age children. It sets up in minutes, and the tripod legs adjust in height to a maximum of 52".
The Celestron ExploraScope 60AZ refractor sits on top of an easy to use alt-azimuth mount. Move the ExploraScope anywhere you like by using the included handle, and then use the handle to keep the telescope on your subject as the Earth rotates. Find objects with the StarPointer finderscope! This red dot finder is so fun to use...just look through the finder window to see an illuminated point of red light, and then move your telescope into position until the red dot lands in the center of your subject of interest. Now look through your telescope's eyepiece and you will be looking at the same thing the finder is pointing at. How do you know where to point the StarPointer? Celestron has included a free app download for your Smartphone or tablet called SkyPortal that will help you find celestial objects and learn more about them.
Other accessories besides the StarPointer finderscope and SkyPortal app included with the ExploraScope 60AZ are two eyepieces, a 3X Barlow lens to triple the magnification of any 1.25" eyepiece, and a 90-Degree Erect Image diagonal. The 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser will accept a wide range of astronomical accessories, including the aforementioned diagonal, and you can add to your 1.25" eyepiece collection to expand your magnification choices as you desire.
