Orion SpaceProbe II 76 mm f/9.2 Equatorial Reflector

  • An excellent general night sky observing reflector telescope for the beginner at an affordable price!
  • This SpaceProbe II Newtonian has 3" (76 mm) aperture and 700 mm focal length (f/9.2) for sensational lunar, planetary, and even some bright nebula and star cluster views.
  • Comes with an EQ-1B equatorial mount and solid adjustable aluminum tripod. Slow motion controls enable easy manual tracking of celestial objects.
  • Includes 25 mm and 10 mm 1.25" Kellner eyepieces for viewing at 28x and 70x magnification respectively.
  • Red Dot Finder, 1.25" focuser, and MoonMap 260 are also included.

An excellent all-purpose telescope for astronomical observing, the affordable 76 mm SpaceProbe II Equatorial Reflector from Orion is the perfect size for budding astronomers and their families. The 76 mm SpaceProbe II contains features and viewing capabilities normally restricted to considerably more costly instruments.

The compact 76 mm SpaceProbe II Reflector, with its 3" aperture optics and equatorial mount, is a great option for those who are beginning to develop a curiosity about space and the stars. This telescope accumulates enough light from the night sky to render thrilling views of the cosmos. All family members will enjoy the spectacle of seeing the Moon, bright planets, and star clusters through this reflector. This could possibly be the start of an amazing journey of scientific and astronomical discovery.

This inexpensive reflector telescope will amaze you with revealing views of Saturn's picturesque rings, Jupiter's moons, and the beautifully cratered terrain of the lunar surface. Its 3" (76 mm) primary mirror gathers enough light to snare the faint glows of some very exotic star clusters and distant nebulae. The SpaceProbe II 76 mm Reflector's 700 mm focal length (f/9.2) provides sharp views of cosmic curiosities the whole family can enjoy.

Each Orion SpaceProbe II 76 mm Newtonian Reflector comes with two 1.25" anti-reflection coated Kellner eyepieces with 25 mm and 10 mm focal lengths for two separate magnification choices straight out of the box. The 25 mm eyepiece yields 28x power magnification, while the 10 mm eyepiece yields up to 70x power magnification for close-up views. These 1.25" barrel eyepieces are better and offer more versatility than smaller .965" eyepieces included with many department store telescopes.

A red dot finder is included to make aiming the telescope nice and easy. Following a simple alignment procedure that parents can help with, you can use the red dot sight to accurately aim the 76 mm SpaceProbe II at objects in the sky such as the Moon and bright planets. Once aligned with the telescope, simply turn on the red-dot sight and peer through the small circular viewing window so you see the red dot, and move the telescope until the red dot is on the object you want to see.

An included Orion MoonMap 260 teaches more about the lunar features you'll observe through this telescope. With names and locations of more than 260 characteristics of the Moon such as craters, "seas," mountains, valleys, and more, the MoonMap 260 is a great tool for beginning astronomers. This detailed map will even provide locations of where various spacecraft have landed on the Moon's surface. You can use the MoonMap 260 to create a plan of what lunar details you want to observe, or to learn the official names of all the interesting landscape features you've seen with the SpaceProbe II 76 mm Reflector.

This SpaceProbe II 76 mm Reflector Telescope comes with the EQ-1B equatorial mount. A considerable upgrade compared to alt-azimuth mounts, this equatorial (or EQ) mount allows easy manual "tracking" of celestial objects with included slow-motion control cables. An adjustable-height aluminum tripod with accessory tray is also included with this feature-packed telescope. Like all Newtonian Reflectors, the 76 mm SpaceProbe II is not recommended for terrestrial viewing since images seen through it will appear upside down.
