A High Performance, Professional Camera for Astrophotography

Let's Dig into the Data!

What sets one astrophotography camera apart from another? How is performance measured? Camera and sensor manufacturers provide certain interconnected specifications that give insight into the performance of a camera. These measurements include quantum efficiency, read noise, full well depth, gain, and dynamic range. While the graphs provided by the manufacturer may be confusing or intimidating, don't fret! Our team has put together a breakdown of these complicated topics to help you make sense of them. Take a look at the article here: Understanding ZWO Camera Charts and Graphs, and feel more confident making the right choice for your astrophotography needs!

Sony IMX249 Sensor
The onboard Sony IMX249 sensor features a resolution of 2.35MP with 5.86um x 5.86um pixels. As a monochrome sensor, the absence of a Bayer matrix means this camera is more sensitive to incoming photons. This helps increase the signal to noise ratio for cleaner, more detailed frames. Opposed to other guide cameras on the market, the ASI174MM Mini possesses a larger 1/1.2” sensor, for a wider field of view. This helps increase the amount of stars available for guiding! In addition to this, the high dynamic range allows for improved resolution, and the anti-reflective (AR) sensor window elevates image quality even further.

USB 2.0 & ST4 Ports
Two ports can be found on the body of this ASI174MM Mini. Utilize the USB-C 2.0 port for connection to your computer or your ASIAIR. This connection both powers the camera and offers data transfer when imaging or guiding. Thanks to reversible design of the USB type C port, setting up in the dark is much easier! If you want to connect this camera directly to your mount, the onboard ST4 port offers just this. Quickly and easily connect this monochrome ZWO camera to your setup with the included ST4 and USB2.0 cables.

Effortless Adaptation
Whether you are using this ASI174MM Mini as a guide camera, planetary camera, or adding a CS lens, attachment to your setup is effortless! This camera inserts into your telescope just like an eyepiece. Focus is quick and simple and can be reached by shifting the camera in or out of the telescope. A 1.25” extender is included within this package to further assist you with focusing. Also, this ASI174MM Mini is perfect for use with off-axis guiders as well! You can also add your own user supplied CS lens with the M28.5-CS adapter that comes standard with this camera. Thanks to ZWO, enjoy this ASI174MM Mini through a wide variety of applications!
