High Resolution and Incredible Sensitivity: The ASI294MM Pro Cooled Monochrome Camera from ZWO!

The ZWO ASI294MM Pro was designed to enhance your astrophotography through its endless outstanding features. Whether that be through its high resolution, remarkable full well capacity, or incredible signal to noise ratio, the ASI294MM Pro delivers top-tier astrophotography performance sure to impress!

Noting the 4/3 aspect ratio of the integrated 11.7-megapixel Sony IMX294CJK sensor, produce images in true 4k resolution with incredible detail. Optimizing its astrophotography performance is the inclusion of the large full well capacity of 66ke and back illumination of the sensor, greatly increasing the signal to noise ratio within your frames. Reduce noise even more by cooling your camera to 30-40 degrees Celsius below ambient temperature with the integrated two stage TEC cooling! Transfer every frame through the reliable 5Gb bandwidth USB3.0 port, and ensure every bit of data is safe and secure with the onboard 256MB DDR3 memory buffer. Achieve the perfect back focus right from the get go, as every adapter needed is included within this package, allowing you to start imaging in no time! With these incredible aspects, see why the ZWO ASI294MM Pro is one of the highest regarded cameras for astrophotography!

A High Performance, Professional Camera for Astrophotography

Let's Dig into the Data!

What sets one astrophotography camera apart from another? How is performance measured? Camera and sensor manufacturers provide certain interconnected specifications that give insight into the performance of a camera. These measurements include quantum efficiency, read noise, full well depth, gain, and dynamic range. While the graphs provided by the manufacturer may be confusing or intimidating, don't fret! Our team has put together a breakdown of these complicated topics to help you make sense of them. Take a look at the article here: Understanding ZWO Camera Charts and Graphs, and feel more confident making the right choice for your astrophotography needs!

High Resolution Sony IMX294CJK Sensor
The onboard 11.7-megapixel Sony IMX294CJK sensor allows the ZWO ASI294MM Pro to utilize a 4/3 aspect ratio format, providing the necessary amount of pixels needed for true 4k output. The back illumination of the Sony IMX294CJK allows for incredible sensitivity to the photons collected, increasing detail and reducing noise. When it comes to choosing an astrophotography camera, mono is the way to go! The absence of a Bayer Pattern on the sensor allows for every pixel to be utilized, increasing its sensitivity even more. In comparison to the ASI294MC Pro's QE of 75%, the monochrome design of the ASI294MM Pro results in an outstanding peak quantum efficiency of 90%! This exceptional QE paired with its low readout noise of 1.2e improves the signal to noise ratio (SNR) immensely. The large sensor offers a high resolution of 4144x2822, and with its remarkable full well capacity of 66,387e, a greater range of signal can be captured along with richer color information. The ASI294MM Pro also features a 14bit ADC, a high dynamic range of 13 stops, and a pixel size of 4.63um, resulting in exceptionally detailed and clear images!

Electronic Highlights
By cooling your camera, a reduction in sensor noise along with reduced dark current results in sharper, cleaner images. The ASI294MM Pro achieves this through two stage TEC cooling, lowering the temperature of your sensor to 35-40 degrees Celsius below ambient temperature, allowing for long exposures produced with incredibly low noise. When cooled to -20℃, the included dark current suppression technology results a negligible dark current readout of 0.0022e/s/pix! Guaranteeing reliability of data transmission, the onboard 256MB DDR3 memory buffer ensures the data you capture is preserved and safely relayed.

Power and Ports
All ZWO cooled cameras require an external 11-14v power supply to work. When it comes to powering your ZWO ASI294MM Pro camera, we suggest the Apertura Universal 5 Amp AC Adapter. Multiple ports are included on the body of the ASI294MM Pro camera. A USB3.0 port allows for incredibly fast data transmission to your computer, as its 5Gb bandwidth gives the ASI294MM the ability to run at 16FPS in 14-bit mode at full 11.7-megapixel resolution. Aiding in cable management, two additional USB2.0 ports offer the ability to connect extra devices, such as a filter wheel or electronic focuser! Included with the ASI294MM Pro is one USB3.0 cable and two USB2.0 cables, readying you for a night of imaging.

Everything Needed for Proper Backfocus Spacing
Understanding the daunting task of finding the correct backfocus for your camera, ZWO has included everything you need to find the proper backfocus to get you out and imaging in no time! The included spacers allow you to reach the standard 55mm of backfocus right from the get go, ensuring your camera is the proper distance away from your imaging system. The spacers and adapters provided make it easy to seamlessly adjust and swap out other ZWO accessories such as the OAG or EFW. Take a look at the images provided for more insight into how to connect your camera to your telescope!
