Baader 2" CMOS Optimized Blue "B" Filter

Objects emitting from the H-Beta line at 486 nm like the Horsehead nebula are prime photographic targets for this CMOS optimized Baader 2” Blue “B” RGB Bandpass Filter. With a 400 nm to 510 nm transmission range, this filter passes wavelengths shorter than both the red and green RGB filters. The Baader "B" filter can also be used in conjunction with the Green "G" filter for twice the O-III power given that they both pass the O-III spectral region at 501 nm. This produces double the O-III line energy for exceptionally high maximum transmission, resulting in deep sky S/N that competing filters are unable to match.

Baader CMOS Optimized Blue "B" Filter Highlights

  • Optimized for CMOS cameras, this Baader 2" Blue RGB filter is compatible with telescopes ranging from f/15 to f/1.8.
  • Offers incredibly high transmission for heretofore unheard-of reductions in stray light and reflections.
  • Take matching 1:1:1 subframe exposures, especially crucial when it comes to automated imaging, thanks to a balanced design.
  • Enhanced contrast comes courtesy of steep slopes at all transmission curves.
  • This filter has been independently coated and planeoptically polished with Reflex-Blocker™ and Life-Coat™ hard coatings and sealed coating edges rather than carved out of a single plate of glass.
  • Current filter thickness standards are met with this parfocal filter.
  • Edges are blackened all the way around with telescope-sided black outer rim serving as a filter-lead-side-indicator for further reduction of reflections that occur because of light falling onto the filter's edge.
  • Achieve optimal deep sky S/N output via the ultimate peak transmission provided by the double O-III line energy you get from the joint use of the “B” and “G” filters.
  • This CMOS optimized Blue RGB filter is also suitable for use with older model CCD cameras.

More about Baader CMOS Optimized RGB Filters

Astro-imaging with modern CMOS cameras using Baader RGB color filters is achievable for nearly all telescopes independent of optical speed. In fact, these filters are compatible with any telescope that has a focal ratio between f/15 and f/1.8. Notable features include a balanced design, steep slopes at all transmission curves, blackened lens edges with telescope-sided black outer rim around the entire circumference. Highly coveted 1:1:1 subframe exposures, a must for automated imaging, are realized due to this filter's balanced design. Remarkably low levels of stray light and reflections, as well as peak color contrast that matches regular CMOS QE and s/n ratio, are both attainable through steep transmission curve slopes. Finally, unwanted reflections are lessened even further thanks to blackened lens edges with black outer rim on the telescope side that serve as a filter-lead-side-indicator.

Contrary to filters produced by other manufacturers which are cut from a larger plate of glass causing them to form micro-cracks around all edges, these Baader RGB color filters are individually coated and planeoptically polished with Reflex-Blocker™ hard coatings. This prevents premature aging via moisture build-up. In addition, these filters feature Baader Planetarium's own even harder Life-Coat™ coatings that will keep your filters from acquiring damage caused by unfriendly environmental conditions. With Life-Coat™, your filters boast the durability necessary to hold up over many years despite repeated proper cleanings. Designed with notable regard for parfocality, these filters conform to current standards in terms of thickness.
