Lunt LS130MT 130 mm H-Alpha Solar Telescope

This Lunt Observer Package for the LS130MT f/7 H-Alpha Solar Refractor comes with a B1200 Blocking Filter, ideal for visual purposes, and contains everything you need to begin viewing both the Sun and celestial objects in the night sky right out of the box. Other accessories included in this package are a 2” white light wedge & polarizer, 1.25” nighttime diagonal, 2" to 1.25" adapter, 27 mm and zoom eyepieces, cradle ring assembly with built-in red dot solar finder, a hard case, and 10" dovetail.

With an internal precision-aligned triplet ED apochromatic Ohara FPL51 glass lens, the refractor- based Lunt LS130MT is a complete h-alpha solar telescope system. This 130 mm aperture, 910 mm focal length solar telescope comes standard with a 2” Rack & Pinion Focuser with 10:1 reduction to enable high precision focusing. Last, but possibly the most important feature, is an internal etalon with tune adjustment that enables a <0.65 Angstrom bandpass.

Capable of being employed as either a daytime solar (with etalons) or a nighttime celestial (without etalons) viewing instrument, the Lunt LS130MT allows for easy switching between these two modes that does not require more than a few minutes. With the LS130MT, you’ll be able to see granular surface detail when viewing the Sun, and visual anomaly free night sky objects when viewing after sundown. This means that all your viewing can now be accomplished with only one telescope.

True Doppler Tuning

True Doppler Tuning primarily allows for a shift into and away from the user, adding a 3-D like component to the viewing experience. Although the effect this has on prominences is minimal due to their location at the edge of the disk, it does have an impact on filaments and similarly active regions on the surface. Additionally, while looking at a filament at the center of the Sun, the user has the ability to Doppler shift from the base of the filament to the tip, thus following the filament through its structure toward you and away from you. This enhanced visual and imaging capability benefits the observer while providing a useful research tool for the avid hobbyist. Lastly, the LS130MT’s pressure tuning system allows for more precise tuning of desired features by an order of magnitude.

Optional Internal Double Stacking Module

While the Lunt LS130MT comes standard as a single-stacked system with a <0.65 Angstrom bandpass, you can have this reduced to <0.45 Angstroms with the help of an internal double stack module (not included). This enables high definition solar views with truly enhanced surface details that seem as if they are "popping out" at you. This does not require that the LS130MT be returned to the factory. In fact, purchasing the single-stacked version provides a more affordable way to obtain Lunt’s best solar scope while still leaving room for upgrades at a later date. However, if you do decide on the LFPT internal double stack module upgrade, you’ll be able to experience our closest star in finer detail than ever before.
