This 6" APO Triplet Refractor will Produce Spectacular Images

The William Optics FLT 156 APO Refractor in classic Space Grey uses an air-spaced triplet design made with extra-low dispersion (ED) glass like FPL-53 and Lanthanum that is finished with Super High Transmission Coatings (SMT) on all surfaces. This attention to optical quality virtually removes chromatic aberration and produces images that are sharp and full of contrast. This model comes with the upgraded Starlight FeatherTouch 3.5" Focuser for the ultimate in smooth, buttery focusing and precision.

This is One Beautifully Made Refractor!

As with other William Optics refractors, the fit and finish on the William Optics F156 is superb. The lens cell that cradles the 6" optical system is CNC machined of steel, and the optical tube assembly is machined out of solid high-grade aluminum and then powder-painted white.

Classy Space Grey Anodized Trim

This 6" triplet refractor telescope comes with cradle-style mounting with three rings for extra stability, a saddle handle bar that attaches to to top of the rings, and a universal Losmandy-style dovetail plate. All four pieces are anodized in Space Grey. The included 360-degree camera rotator on the Starlight Instruments 3" Rack & Pinion Dual Speed Focuser and the Rotolock 2" Adapter are anodized to match. This is one beautiful telescope. By the way, the top of the handle bar has a Vixen-style saddle built in to accept William Optics slide base guide rings for a guide scope or finder. You can also use an accessory mounted on a Vixen dovetail.

Upgraded to Famous Starlight Instruments 3.5" FeatherTouch Focuser!

The 3.5" Rack & Pinion Dual Speed Focuser from Starlight Instruments is designed to handle heavy loads of 18-20 pounds and can be rotated 360-degrees. The reduction ratio of this dual speed focuser is 10:1. The FLT 156 FeatherTouch focuser is extra heavy-duty and extremely durable. Large aluminum focus knobs making it easy to achieve precision adjustments to focus, even with gloves on, and you will find that there is no backlash!

The upgraded 3.5" FeatherTouch rack and pinion dual-speed focuser allows for use of three optional flatteners from William Optics; the FLAT68III, which flattens the field beautifully without focal reduction, the FLAT7A, an APO flattener that will also reduce the effective focal length of the 156 Fluorostar to f/6.2, or the FLAT8. This 0.72X Focal Reducer and Field Flattener shortens the effective focal length a bit more than the FLAT7A, taking it from the native f/7.8 to f/5.6. William Optics recommends the FLAT68III for the best image quality of the three choices. All optional flatteners accept 2" threaded filters.
