Historically, astrophotographers had to rely on multiple AC to DC power supplies to power all their equipment during imaging sessions. This is because they lacked a single power supply robust enough to run all the equipment needed. With the Apertura 12V 10A DC Power Supply, the days of tangled cords and complicated cable management are finally over! This new power supply can run at 10 amps, powering your mount and imaging gear with a single AC plug, all without even breaking a sweat!
The Apertura 12V 10A DC Power Supply - 5.5x2.1mm can function in many different configurations. To achieve this feat, the unit comes multiple adapters, including (2) 5.5x2.1 M to M output cables, (1) Y-Splitter extension cable, and (1) automotive style cigarette lighter adapter. The main AC/DC power brick has a female 5.5x2.1 center positive terminal, which accepts any of the Apertura Power System cables. This entire unit, and all of the included adapters, are ETL and CE safety rated conforming to FCC standards. The cables themselves are made from a heavy 14 gauge wire bundle that is insulated with a sturdy jacket, and each of the connectors are rated for high amperage, providing reliable and stable power for all your devices!

Single Output Mode
The Apertura 12V 10A DC Power Supply - 5.5x2.1mm includes (2) 5.5x2.1 male output adapters, either of which can be used to supply power through a single 5.5x2.1 output. This is easily achieved by inserting one of the adapters into the main cable of the power supply as shown in the diagram to the left. Alternatively the single 5.5x2.1 male adapter can be replaced with the automotive style cigarette lighter adapter. This adapter will work for devices that require an automotive type connector, such as Sky-Watcher mounts. The single output configurations can be used to power a single device with up to a 10amp power requirement. For an example of the single output configuration, please see the diagram to the left.
Dual Output Mode
While the Apertura 12V 10A DC Power Supply can be used to power a single device, it was designed primarily to eliminate the need to rely on multiple PSUs to power your imaging system. In order to provide adequate current to multiple devices without concern for overcurrent, each leg of the included Y-Splitter extension cable is rated for a 10 amp load. This allows the AC10 to meet the demands of set ups with varying power needs. For example; one device can draw 7 amps and the other 3 amps (so long as both devices combined don't exceed the 10 amp rating). The Y splitter cable has (2) female 5.5x2.1center positive terminals, which accept the included Male 5.5x2.1 adapters. When arranged in this fashion, the PSU will have (2) 5.5x2.1 male outputs, allowing you to power both a mount and an ASAIR or Power Hub/USB Hub. As previously mentioned, the automotive adapter can be used in cases where it is needed, in place of a 5.5x2.1 adapter. For mounts that require a 5.5x2.5 connector, the Apertura DC Power Cable for iOptron and Meade Mounts (not included) can be connected via one of the two 5.5x2.1 outputs.
