The Askar FMA180PRO Apochromatic Sextuplet Refractor
This pro version of the FMA180 by Askar is great for use as a portable telescope for astrophotography, but also performs wonderfully as a camera lens or finder scope by adding additional accessories. Boasting a sextuplet 3+3 lens configuration and APO design, two lenses are made with ED (extra-low dispersion) glass to minimize chromatic aberration. With a 180 mm focal length and f/4.5 focal ratio, you'll get great wide field shots!
Compared to the base model FMA180, the pro version adds a finder base for easy mounting, as well as a 360-degree rotator, which allows the user to properly orient attached cameras or accessories during photographic or visual sessions. An internal helical focusing mechanism provides additional strength and stability.
Impressive Specifications
In addition to the sextuplet optical design mentioned above, the FMA180 Pro provides 40 mm of aperture and a 180 mm focal length, bringing the focal ratio to f/4.5. The FMA180 Pro comes with an M48 adapter at the rear, with a standard backfocus of 55 mm and a built-in 2" filter thread. The 44 mm image circle provides support for full-frame cameras.
Deck It Out for Astrophotography!
The FMA180 Pro makes a great telescope for astro-imaging. This image shows this super portable sextuplet refractor on an equatorial mount with and OAG and imaging camera mounted on the back and a side camera on top. The finder bracket will accept the ZWO ASIAIR or other imaging accessories.
Use as a Camera Lens!
If you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera, you can use the Askar FMA180 Pro as a 180 mm f/4.5 lens! Just use an M48 T-Ring for your camera brand (Canon EOS, Nikon, etc., sold separately).
Great Optics
The FMA180 Pro from Askar is an air-spaced apochromatic triplet with two ED elements that is carefully matched with a built-in triplet reducer, which takes this native f/5.5 refractor down to f/4.5. This sextuplet produces beautiful images with excellent color correction.
Accessories
The FMA180 Pro includes a scope to dovetail bracket, a 150 mm Vixen-style dovetail plate, and a 360-degree rotator to properly orient an attached camera or accessory. You will also receive a finder base as well as an M48 x 0.75 adapter that sports threads to accept 2" filters. This version of the FMA180 does not include a 1.25" diagonal, however you can set it up for visual use with your own 1.25" diagonal, some spacers, and a visual back.
