More About the Astronomik OIII 6 nm CCD Filter

Whether working from an optimally dark site or in severe light pollution, this OIII CCD filter from Astronomik is ideal for OIII nebulae imaging. Provides full blockage of artificial light pollution such as high and low-pressure sodium and mercury lights, natural airglow, and light from the Moon. The contrast between objects in the OIII line (501 nm) and the background will become abundantly clear. In addition, OIII filters enable much broader imaging capabilities as green and blue objects can now be imaged.

Using this filter guarantees 88% transmission or more at OIII (501 nm). This filter is made to Astronomik's exacting standards. While transmission ratings may vary between each filter, you are guaranteed a transmission rating greater than 88%, with a typical transmission rating of around 92-95% for the 6 nm OIII. The specific T-Max will be listed on the filter case. You can rest easy knowing that every unit is thoroughly tested and guaranteed to meet Astronomik's stellar benchmark of performance! When compared to the 12 nm filter, the 6 nm OIII enables a higher contrast improvement due to its smaller FWHM (full width at half maximum). The result is an exceptionally dark background.

Designed for Canon EOS R APS-C cameras for use in both metropolitan and suburban viewing areas, Astronomik EOS R APS-C clip filters offer quick and easy no-tool installation, and come with a small hook to help with filter removal. This filter does not require any housing modifications to enable use.

Mounting your Astronomik EOS R APS-C clip filter can be accomplished using only your fingers. Simply slide into place until flush, reinstall the camera lens, and you are set. The included filter removal tool is only needed in the beginning to get it out far enough to grasp. Once this happens, you can use your fingers to completely withdraw the filter and put it back in its storage case.
