Baader 2" CMOS Optimized Red Filter
Baader 2" CMOS Optimized Red "R" Filter
Maximum transmission for H-Alpha and SII line emitting deep sky objects is provided via this Baader 2” Red RGB Bandpass Filter. No wavelengths other than those in the 595 nm to 690 nm range are allowed to pass through. This includes NIR and IR spectral areas up to 1200 nm. In order to prevent undesirable sources of light such as street lamps from having a negative impact, Baader has intentionally designed their RGB filters so that the transmittable emissions of the “R” and “G” filters don’t overlap. This is in contrast to the region between the “G” and “B” filters for which there is no obvious divide.
Baader 2" CMOS Optimized Red "R" Filter Highlights
- Optimized for CMOS cameras, this round Baader 2" Red RGB filter is compatible with telescopes ranging from f/15 to f/1.8.
- Offers incredibly high transmission for heretofore unheard-of reductions in stray light and reflections.
- A balanced design allows the capture of subframes with identical 1:1:1 exposure times, essential for automated imaging applications.
- Enhanced contrast comes courtesy of steep slopes at all transmission curves.
- All Baader RGB filters are coated and planeoptically polished separately with Reflex-Blocker™ hard coatings and Life-Coat™ sealed coating edges instead of cut out of a larger glass plate.
- Current filter thickness standards are met with this parfocal filter.
- The entire circumference contains blackened edges with black outer rim on the telescope side that acts as a filter-lead-side-indicator to prevent reflections resulting from light emissions spilling onto the edge of the filter.
- Infrared and near infrared spectral areas from 680 nm to 1200 nm are fully obstructed with the use of this “R” filter, while targets originating from H-Alpha and SII regions are permitted passage.
- Sources of inconvenient light, such as that from Mercury and Sodium vapor street lamps at 580 nm, are totally neutralized via the use of "G" and "R" filters, resulting in a darker background sky and color balance and separation that is without equal.
- Suitable for use with older CCD cameras despite being designed specifically with modern CMOS technology in mind.
More about Baader CMOS Optimized RGB Filters
Optimized for current CMOS cameras, RGB (Red/Green/Blue) color filters from Baader have a balanced design with excellent contrast and transmission. These filters are compatible with extremely slow f/15 telescopes, extremely fast f/1.8 telescopes, and everything in between. Highly desired 1:1:1 subframe exposures are made possible by this balanced design, ideal for automated imaging. Steep slopes at all transmission curves significantly increase transmission for each RGB color channel. This results in filters with color contrast that is in accordance with conventional CMOS quantum efficiency and s/n ratio, as well as in incredibly low levels of stray light and reflections. Unwanted reflections are curtailed even more by lens edges that are blackened all the way around with filter-lead-side-indicator in the form of a telescope-sided black outer rim.
Since these Baader CMOS optimized RGB filters are not cut out of a larger plate unlike more economical filters, and are each Reflex-Blocker™ hard coated and planeoptically polished independently with Life-Coat™ sealed coating edges, their coatings are not left unprotected from the elements. This makes it impossible for moisture to seep through and prematurely age the filter. Plus, with scratch-resistant Reflex-Blocker™ hard coatings applied, they can be cleaned as often as you wish with no decrease in quality over their entire life span. Developed with special attention paid to making their lenses parfocal, the thickness of these filters matches existing standards.
