Pointing a telescope at the Sun without proper solar filters is extremely dangerous and should never be attempted under any circumstances. The intense light and heat from the Sun can instantly damage the delicate optics of your telescope and, more critically, cause permanent and irreversible eye injury, even blindness, in just a fraction of a second. Unlike looking at the Sun with the naked eye, which already poses serious risks, magnifying the sunlight through a telescope multiplies the danger significantly. The concentrated solar rays can burn your retina before you even have a chance to look away.

Many people underestimate the power of the Sun because it appears as a harmless glowing disk in the sky. However, telescopes are designed to gather and intensify light, making them completely unsafe for solar viewing unless they are equipped with certified solar filters specifically made for the purpose. These filters must be placed over the front of the telescope, not at the eyepiece, to block harmful ultraviolet and infrared radiation before it enters the optics.
