Celestron Aluminum Dew Shield with Cap for 11" SCT

Celestron 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope Dew Shield and Cover Cap with aluminum construction and a primary goal of preserving a dew-free C11 corrector lens. Dew shields are an essential part of any telescope system. Overnight radiative cooling of the corrector lens is minimized by using this dew shield for longer durations below the dew point and, therefore, the complete avoidance of moisture. This dew shield also blocks stray light to enhance contrast for imaging as well as observing endeavors. Expressly designed for Celestron 11” Schmidt-Cassegrains, this dew shield is also suitable for 11” EdgeHDs and RASA astrographs, helping to ease any anxiety over its use by assuring a secure fit.

Construction

Expressly designed for 11” Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tubes from Celestron, this dew shield features a hard aluminum exterior that is not malleable in any way, as well as an interior lined with velvet to absorb any unnecessary light or moisture for ideal viewing and imaging contrast. A pair of adjustable clips are available to ensure secure dew shield to telescope attachment.

The cover cap included with this dew shield also features durable yet lightweight aluminum construction. Simply place this cap on your dew shield whenever your telescope is in a dormant state to keep stray dust particles away from your SCT’s corrector. In addition, this cover cap provides the ability to achieve dark frames for imaging quickly and easily.

If you’re an astro-imager who enjoys using either your 11" RASA or 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain or EdgeHD in the Fastar/Hyperstar configuration, you’re probably used to running cables out the front of the dew shield. Simplify and streamline your setup with the Aluminum Dew Shield’s integrated cable management slot at the base. This slot gives you an easy way to corral essential cables (like the ones for Celestron Dew Heater rings) without potentially allowing light pollution to leak in. Also, there are cutouts to accommodate dovetail rails on the top and bottom of the telescope tube, ensuring a good fit regardless of the configuration.
