Celestron Aluminum Dew Shield with Cap for 6" SCT

Preventing moisture accumulation on the Celestron 6" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope corrector lens is the primary purpose of this Celestron Aluminum Dew Shield and Dew Cap. Compatible with all 6” SCTs made by Celestron, this dew shield will be a vital component of your observing setup for years to come. The duration at which the Celestron C6 corrector lens is maintained below the dew point expands with the reduction in radiative cooling resulting from the use of this dew shield. This keeps dew from gathering on the lens. In addition, image contrast for both viewing and imaging is given a boost with this aluminum dew shield due to the obstruction of extraneous light. Rest assured that this Aluminum Dew Shield has been made specifically for your 6” Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and that you can use it with confidence.

Construction

Expressly designed for 6” Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tubes from Celestron, this dew shield features a hard aluminum exterior that is not malleable in any way, as well as an interior lined with velvet to absorb any unnecessary light or moisture for ideal viewing and imaging contrast. A pair of adjustable clips are available to ensure secure dew shield to telescope attachment.

Celestron aluminum dew shields all come with a cover cap containing the same sturdy but lightweight construction as the dew shield. Without this cap, stray dust particles are given carte blanche to gather on your 6" SCT's corrector in the interim between uses. Additionally, this cover cap enhances imaging by facilitating quick and easy dark frame acquisition.

Any astrophotographer who likes to set their Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope up using Fastar or Hyperstar technology is more than likely familiar with complicated cable assemblies operating from the front of the dew shield. A built-in cable management system greatly simplifies this aspect of imaging by confining all necessary cables, such as those for dew heater rings, to one centralized location at the Celestron Aluminum Dew Shield’s base. In this configuration, light pollution is kept from seeping through. Lastly, cutouts on both the top and bottom are provided to make this dew shield suitable for C6 optical tubes, even with a dovetail attached.
