Developed through a partnership between Celestron and the team behind the stellar SkySafari app, this app brings the night skies targets to you in a whole new way; transforming the lists of objects found on your hand controller into a vast and immersive digital planetarium! Available for both Android and iOS, this app brings 120,000 stars and over 200 clusters, nebulae, galaxies to your mobile device, allowing you to select targets for observation from the picturesque digital sky atlas. For an even more immersive target selection experience, SkyPortal gives you Compass Mode — simply point your mobile up at the night sky to identify celestial objects in whichever section of the sky catches your eye! If you're ever unsure of what to observe SkyPortal has you covered here too, providing you a list of excellent objects tailored to the date, time, and location of your current observation session. Adding to the awe-inspiring images displayed when selecting some of the most popular targets, this app also provides information on a number of targets in text and some audio descriptions — perfect for exploring the night solo, with family, or at a star party! Wide Compatibility

This wireless upgrade accessory is compatible with a wide range of Celestron's mounts, including some of the most popular options like the AVX and NexStar SE! If you're interested in enhancing your mount's feature set, check out the chart below for a full list of compatible gear!

*Please note that while the SkyPortal WiFi Module is compatible with the NexStar Evolution and AstroFi, these models feature their own wireless solutions so please consider your needs prior to pairing the module and one of these mounts together!

Simple Installation and Operation

Giving your compatible Celestron mount a wireless upgrade is straightforward with the SkyPortal WiFi Module! First, download and install the Celestron SkyPortal app for your compatible Android or iOS mobile device. Next, ensure the switch on the side of the SkyPortal WiFi Module is in the 'up' position (closest to the orange plug). With the mount powered off, now connect the module to either a free AUX port or replace the hand controller with this module. Now power on the mount and wait for the status light on the SkyPortal to begin flashing. On your mobile device, navigate to the WiFi settings and look for a network starting with 'Celestron-'. Connect to the network, wait a moment to ensure your device stays connected**, and launch the Celestron SkyPortal app. From there follow the on screen instructions to align/ calibrate your mount, and in just a few short steps you'll be ready to control your mount through an incredible digital planetarium!

**As the SkyPortal WiFi Module does not have an internet connection of its own, some mobile devices may ask if you want to remain connected to the hotspot. If prompted, confirm that you want to remain connected, and wait a moment to confirm that your device does not try to connect to another network.

Immersive Digital Planetarium: Celestron SkyPortal
This upgrade will allow you to explore the sky in a new way! Rather than picking out interesting entries from the comprehensive catalogs included with Celestron's handcontroller line and exploring through an eyepiece, you can now tour a graphically rich digital planetarium to locate targets and read more about deep sky objects before observing their splendor through your optics! Scroll around on a representation of the night sky at your location, select an object, and learn more as the mount automatically brings this incredible object to your eyepiece. This is a perfect addition to your star party, giving guests a way to explore along with the user at the eyepiece!

Dual Wireless Operation
The Celestron SkyPortal WiFi Module can operate two modes: direct connection and indirect connection. In direct connection mode, the module generates its own hotspot for your mobile device, allowing you to enjoy the enhanced SkyPortal app experience out in the field away from any cellular or WiFi network coverage. For those looking to connect to their telescope from the comfort of an internet connected network like a home WiFi router however, the Celestron SkyPortal WiFi Module can also be reached indirectly. Simply connect directly, configure your home network on the module, and then restart your setup with the module's connection switch in the downwards position. Your Celestron SkyPortal WiFi Module will then connect to your home network and can be reached through the app without needing to adjust your WiFi connection!

Ease of Installation
This module can upgrade your compatible Celestron mount with no permanent modification or complicated installation! All you need to do is connect the module to your mount's AUX or handcontroller port and your setup gains a whole new capability. If you ever want to revert your mount back to its original state, simply remove the module and your transformation will be complete!
