Turn Your Celestron GoTo Telescope into a Powerful Automatic System
With its electronic eye and enhanced intelligence added to your Celestron mount, setting up is easier than ever. Read on to see why the Celestron StarSense AutoAlign V2 Accessory is the perfect ally for your astronomy setup.
What’s New With the V2 Edition
As a revamp of the highly-regarded original Celestron StarSense AutoAlign, this upgraded version boasts new features you’re sure to love. For one, this V2 alignment accessory can be operated with your NexStar+ hand controller, no secondary StarSense hand controller required. You can also enjoy fast, accurate alignment with the celestial poles thanks to the built-in Polar Alignment assist. A new “Live View” feature allows users to focus this StarSense AutoAlign system when connected to a PC with the onboard USB-C port. This way, there is no need to send the unit back to Celestron for adjustments. Replacing the original 1.2 MP Aptina MT9M034 CMOS camera sensor, this Celestron StarSense V2 AutoAlign now sports the 2.13 MP Sony IMX462LLR-C sensor for improved performance.
Setup to Observing in Minutes
Utilizing observatory-grade technology called plate solving, the Celestron StarSense AutoAlign captures an image of the night sky and compares it to its built-in database to determine exactly where your scope is pointing. After a couple of images, your mount’s pointing model will be precisely calibrated. This process is fast, only taking about three minutes on average to align your mount. Worried about obstructions around your observing location like trees or tall buildings? No need to fret! The Celestron StarSense will automatically slew to a different point in the night sky if its view is too obscured.
Built-In Polar Alignment Assistance. Perfect for Astrophotography!
This Celestron StarSense V2 boasts advanced polar alignment assistance for compatible equatorial mounts and alt-azimuth mounts placed on a wedge. While traditional polar alignment methods rely on a clear view of Polaris, this Celestron alignment accessory helps you achieve accurate alignment without a direct view of this pole star. This is especially useful for those with obstructions in their backyards or regular observing locations.
Refreshed Hardware & USB-C Connectivity
With updated hardware, the Celestron StarSense AutoAlign V2 now supports USB-C PC connection for expanded functionality. Live View focusing, download of diagnostic logs, and direct firmware updates can be executed via this universal connection method. The new Sony IMX462LLR-C camera sensor boasts a back-illuminated, monochrome design for exceptional sensitivity when capturing the night sky. This improved sensor performance helps with quick recognition of star fields, maximizing alignment precision across a wide variety of observing conditions.
Versatile Control Options
Now no longer requiring a dedicated StarSense AutoAlign hand controller, you’re at liberty to operate this powerful alignment accessory with just your NexStar+ hand controller, noting the firmware version of 5.35.5340 or greater is required. Users can also utilize the free Celestron CPWI telescope control software for Windows or the SkyPortal Powered by SkySafari™ app. App operation is facilitated through compatible WiFi-enabled mounts or the SkyPortal WiFi Module (sold separately).
