A Professional Grade Astrophotography Filter Set of the Highest Quality

Let's Check out the Stats!

What exactly makes one filter better than another? How can I tell which filter will be best for my needs? To understand how well a filter performs, manufacturers provide what is called a transmission chart along with their filters. These charts give insight into the wavelengths allowed through, the bandpass, as well as the transmission percentage. It may be a bit confusing at first glance, but no need to worry, we have you covered! Our team of gear experts have crafted a comprehensive How to Read a Filter Transmission Chart guide to help you better understand the capabilities of any filters you may be interested in. With this article, you’ll be readily equipped with the knowledge needed to make a well informed, data-driven decision based on your specific needs.

Vibrant, Colorful Images
Monochrome imaging is the best way to collect the most amount of detail within your frames. By allowing each pixel to be saturated with incoming light, photos captured with a monochrome camera feature a higher signal to noise ratio when compared to images taken with color cameras. Pair this exceptional sensitivity with the premier craftsmanship from Chroma Technology, and your images are certain to impress! Each color filter has a high peak transmittance rate for exceptional clarity and contrast: 98.56% red, 99.59% green, and 98.77% blue. Subtle detail is easily resolved, and the natural colors captured provide an authentic, pleasing look. Also, these filters block UV and IR light to keep the stars tight and pinpoint. With this Chroma LRGB Filter Set in your astroimaging toolkit, you’re well equipped to capture the true, beautiful color of the universe.

Suitable for Any Set Up
This filter set is compatible with a large majority of filter wheels and drawers on the market today, making for effortless incorporation into your imaging train. A wide variety of user-supplied filter holders such as the ZWO EFW 8-position Filter Wheel, ZWO EFW Mini Five-Position Filter Wheel, and the QHY CFW3 Small Color Filter Wheel are perfect for housing this 4-filter set. These filters include male threads with a height of 1.75 mm and a cell height of 5.25 mm, resulting in a total filter height of 7 mm. With 1.25” in size, it’s best to pair this filter set with sensors featuring a diagonal smaller than 31 mm, such as Micro Four Thirds and 1” sensors.

Precision in Every Detail
As innovators in optical filter design, Chroma Technology has crafted this LRGB filter set with cutting-edge coatings. These coatings are applied using a process called reactive magnetron sputtering, and help uphold performance by preserving the spectral accuracy in the central wavelength (CWL). Thanks to this coating technology, the filters within this set are resilient to humidity changes and can even withstand extreme temperature fluctuations. Both surfaces of this filter are fully coated, with the rear (camera-facing) surface housing anti-reflective coatings to eradicate back-reflections and image distortions. To enhance performance further, Chroma astronomy filters are assembled with 3 mm thick single substrates of the highest quality of glass. By using a single substrate, the need for lamination is eliminated, and durability and light transmission is improved.
