Coronado SolarMax III 30 mm Blocking Filter
A Massive Upgrade for Your Dedicated Ha Solar Solution!
If you're looking to maximize the throughput of your dedicated Ha solar system, then the Coronado SolarMax III Blocking Filter 30mm is for you! With a massive clear aperture and a straight-through to 90° convertible design, this blocking filter is a powerhouse for solar setups. Eliminate the bottleneck with this incredible add-on and complete your Ha scope today!
While training your scope on the sea of stars is well within the reach of even simple optics, when it comes our closest star you need some specialized equipment to safely see its splendor—doubly so when it comes to viewing the stellar surface in detail. While it provides the important and incredible filtering needed to reveal the Ha information of the Sun, the etalon is just one half a proper solar setup; and here is where Coronado SolarMax III Blocking Filter comes in. Providing an incredible 30 mm of clear aperture blocking filter design, this can pass a view of the Sun's full disc across a large range of scopes; covering up to 3000 mm in focal length! This is perfect for not just far reaching dedicated solar builds, but especially astrophotography setups as the additional space it provides can easily allow you to capture the solar disc and edge detail in one shot with the correct scope and camera pairing! If astrophotography is your goal, this blocking filter can additionally be converted from a 90° diagonal to a straight-through design that is more imaging train friendly. All of this excellence is housed in a quality black and gold metal components, giving you a sleek and durable addition to your own personal solar system!
Please Note: Always exercise caution when viewing the Sun. This blocking filter needs to be used with a front mounted etalon or a scope containing an etalon. Failure to observe proper safety measures while solar viewing can result in permanent eye damage.
Converting the Coronado 30 mm Blocking Filter for Astrophotography Use
Transforming your Coronado SolarMax III from a 90° diagonal configuration to a straight-through blocking filter for an easier astrophotography setup is easy! Start by removing the 2" nosepiece that inserts into the focuser from the diagonal, carefully unthreading it from the gold housing; this section contains the blocking filter assembly. Then simply thread the 2" nosepiece assembly into the included straight-through adapter, snugging it down firmly. You now have a straight-through 30 mm blocking filter assembly, ready for 2" equipment or 1.25" gear with the included 2" to 1.25" adapter. When you're ready to convert your blocking filter back into a diagonal for visual use, all you need to do is reverse these steps!
Please Note: Do not use any other diagonal with the Coronado SolarMax III Blocking Filter. You can not convert other blocking filters using the included adapter.
Expansive Blocking Filter for Demanding Applications
With its massive 30 mm blocking filter, convertible design, and high quality build, the Coronado SolarMax III Blocking Filter 30mm is a go-to high performance option for demanding dedicated Ha solar systems!
Massive Blocking Filter
If you're looking for a
blocking filter that won't hold your system back, this expansive option from
Coronado is right for you! With a large 30 mm blocking filter, this can
provide a full-disc and plenty of padding on large refractor systems; and
just the full-disc on more demanding systems of 3000 mm of focal length.
This massive amount of blocking filter aperture will bring the incredible
filaments, flares, and spots on the Sun's surface alongside the prominences
on the edge to your camera or eyepiece!
Quality Construction
This blocking filter from
Coronado doesn't just feature premium performance, sporting a build and
finish to match its optical excellence! The 90° diagonal has been CNC
machined and finished in a gold that pairs perfectly with the Coronado
SolarMax ecosystem, or brings a warm flair to any other system it is
installed in.
Convertible Connection
The Coronado SolarMax III
Blocking Filter 30mm can be used in two different ways; a traditional
diagonal design and a straight-through configuration. This allows you to
easily orient your 1.25" eyepieces for visual observations, or attach M42
threaded cameras like popular "puck" style options, and then convert to a
more heavy duty astrophotography-friendly design in just a few moments. In
this straight-through mode you can attach 2" and 1.25" equipment directly
behind the optics, providing an easier way to build heavier imaging trains!
