DayStar Imaging Focal Reducer
DayStar's Imaging Focal Reducer can give you more field of view in your images! Insert this 2" reducer into your focuser for a wider perspective at the M42 connection; with a 20 mm extension included for an even wider perspective still. With a T-mount camera connected directly to the reducer, the focal length is cut in half—0.5X. Adding the 20mm extension tube gives you an even bigger reduction factor of 0.33X. For solar imaging DayStar recommends combining this reducer with the T-thread Interference Eliminator (sold separately) for an interference-free 0.38X effect!
The obtainable field through this four-element will be smaller than the unassisted image circle due to the reducing nature of this optical accessory. When solar imaging, your image circle is additionally impacted by the clear aperture of your etalon. DayStar Quantum Filters will result in a larger usable field compared to DayStar Quark or Ion filters. For guaranteed full disk solar imaging, DayStar recommends pairing the DayStar Imaging Focal Reducer with their SR127 Solar Telescope and a 2/3" type sensor.
