With a mount head weighing just shy of 13 lb., the HAE43C SWG mount can lift up to an incredible 44 lb. of gear on its own, or a hefty 55 lb. when used with a counterweight (sold separately). Attaching all this gear is simple with the dual DEC saddle supporting both D-style and V-style dovetails. This C version of the HAE43 platform features an internal mainboard, allowing the mount to operate without a hand controller! Equatorial mounts shine when it comes to freezing deep sky objects in place for long-exposure astrophotos, but do require a bit more at setup compared Alt/Az mounts, which are quicker to setup but lack the counter-rotation capability, making them better suited to visual observation. With conventional options this typically meant owning multiple mounts if you wanted both mount styles, however the iOptron HAE43C SWG Mount can take on the roles of astrophotography powerhouse and visual observation rig alike with its dual EQ and Alt/Az functionality! Able to convert from an equatorial mount to an Alt/Az one and then back again, this mount allows you to easily select to mount style that's best suited for the astronomy you're interested in on any given night. While some conventionally geared dual EQ-Alt/Az options have provided this functionality, iOptron has leveraged the HAE43C's strain wave gearing benefits to bring users a double-duty mount in a much smaller and lighter package!
