With the Sony IMX464 CMOS sensor, the iOptron iCam 464C color camera is a highly sensitive astrophotography tool that is perfect for those looking to take beautiful images of the planets and the Moon. The Sony IMX464 sensor has a diagonal of 9 mm and provides an imaging area of 1/1.8" with a 2.9 µm pixel size and a 4.2 MP resolution (2712 x 1538 pixel array).

iOptron's iCam cameras have very low readout noise, and according to test results, the iCam 464C camera's readout noise can be as low as 0.75e at a gain of 350 and around 0.71e at a gain of 400. The HCG (high conversion gain) mode will automatically turn on when the camera gain setting is ≥80. This mode greatly reduces the readout noise and retains the same dynamic range since it is at low gain. With the unique DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) technology that is integrated into all iCam cameras, the 464C camera can eliminate any abnormal/dead pixels by analyzing the camera's dark frames.

This color comes with a unique QE response which allows the sensitivity to reach the peak at 800-850nm. Users can also couple the camera with an IR850 or CH4 filter (filters not included) for infrared imaging.

About the iCam 464C Camera Ports

There are two ports on the body of the iCam 464C Camera: a USB3.0 port and an ST-4 port.

The iOptron 464C Color camera comes with an integrated USB3.0 computer interface. Once connected to a computer and the full-resolution preview enabled, the iCam camera can reach 93 FPS in Raw8 mode (10bit ADC). During sessions of image recording, the recording speed is affected by the hard drive writing speed, so it is recommended that the user utilizes a high-quality solid state drive to record data in order to benefit fully from the USB3.0 data speed.

All iCam cameras from iOptron are ST-4 compatible. This compatibility allows users to connect the camera to a mount guide port and enable ST-4 autoguiding.
