Lunt Solar 50 mm Ha Solar Telescope w/ B600 Blocking Filter
Experience Pressure-Tuned Ha Solar Excellence!
Bring the shifting surface of the Sun into focus with this dedicated solar scope from Lunt! Combining their 50 mm f/7, Doppler pressure tuned, Ha telescope with the larger B600 blocking filter, this telescope will reveal the powerful forces at work on the surface of our Solar System's star to both your eyepiece and camera alike. If you're looking for a premium solar telescope experience in a compact package, it's hard to beat this option!
The immense forces that drive the Sun provide for an ever shifting surface of solar flares, sun spots, filaments, and prominences — however these incredible details are veiled from standard solar viewing filters. With the Lunt Solar 50 mm Ha Solar Telescope w/ B600 Blocking Filter however, you can cut through the Sun's overpowering light and reveal this incredible Ha detail beneath! This is all made possible with a specialized filter called an etalon, which rejects more light than even the narrowest Ha astrophotography filters — with the internally mounted, USA made, etalon in this scope providing just a <0.75Å (0.075 nm!) window into the light spectrum. This precise filtering renders the Ha features of the Sun in incredible detail, which you can surgically hone in with Lunt's premium Pressure Tuning system. If you're looking for a quality dedicated solar viewing telescope, features and superb performance like this is what you get when you purchase from the dedicated solar experts at Lunt!
Please Note: Always exercise caution when viewing the Sun. Failure to observe proper safety measures while solar viewing can result in permanent eye damage.
True Doppler Tuning: The Lunt Pressure Tune System
With windows into the Sun's Ha spectrum measured in Angstroms, the view of the Sun's incredible features can be visibly affected by a phenomenon known as Doppler Shift. This effect causes the wavelength these details appear on to change, requiring you to shift the center of your bandpass "window" to compensate and bring them into focus. There are a number of ways to do this by manipulating the etalon responsible for filtering out the Ha detail: physically tilting it to change the distance between the two plates, or using pressure to force the plates to move towards/away from each other. For center mount filter systems like the Lunt 50 mm Ha Solar Telescope, pressure is desirable as center mount tilt-tuning can introduce a "ripple" effect; however if this pressure is unevenly applied this can lead to other distortions or poor performance. This is where Lunt's premium Pressure Tune system comes in! By simply tightening or loosening the tuner this system will adjust the internal pressure of the etalon, precisely and evenly adjusting the center wavelength for excellent detail rendition and uniform performance. The outstanding granularity this tuning system allows for can fine tune your view of surface features like filaments from where they start to the top of their arc towards you; and provides what Lunt describes as a "3D component" to your solar viewing experience!
Portable, Premium Ha Excellence!
With a dedicated solar design capable of rendering the full disc of the Sun in stunning detail and contrast, imaging and observing capable B600 blocking filter, and a powerful ecosystem of add-ons and compatible accessories, this Lunt Solar 50 mm Ha Solar Telescope is your perfect solar companion!
Premium Dedicated Solar Scope Design
This dedicated Ha
scope from Lunt features a 50 mm aperture, f/7 focal ratio, optical design
to give you a 350 mm focal length view of the Sun. This provides a full-disk
image across the full range of Lunt's
Solar 7.2 mm - 21.5 mm Zoom Eyepiece, their
Set of Five Flat Field Eyepieces, as well as a larger number of other popular 1.25" eyepieces. Giving this
solar scope its incredible Ha filtering ability is an internally mounted
etalon, which is manufactured at Lunt's facility in Tuscon, Arizona and
provides a stellar <0.75Å bandpass. This powerful filtering of the
Sun's light has paired with Lunt's premium Pressure Tune system to bring
surface filaments, flares, spots, granularity, as well as prominences, right
to your eyepiece or camera in stellar detail and contrast!
Observing and Imaging Capable: The B600 Blocking Filter
With a ≈3.2 mm full-disk image of the Sun provided through the
350 mm optics of this 50 mm solar scope, the
B400 blocking filter
offers a viable pathway to viewing the full majesty of our closest star.
However for those looking to observe without compromise or looking to image
through the LS50THa system need look no further than this model —
featuring the larger B600 blocking filter! With an additional 2 mm of
aperture, the B600 gives you extra room to comfortably capture not just the
full solar disc but also prominences leaping off of the fringes! This
blocking filter comes equipped with an 1.25" compression fitting for holding
your eyepieces and cameras, with a T2 thread for directly connecting
cameras.
Please Note: The Blocking Filter is a required component for safe
solar use of this telescope.
Do not use this telescope without the Blocking Filter installed.
Helical Focuser Included
To bring the Sun into focus
this telescope features an 1.25" helical focuser. This focuser gives you a
simple, yet effective way to hone in on the solar landscape, adjusting like
a standard camera lens with a simple twist backwards or forwards. Checkered
texturing has been added to make getting a grip easy, and a printed scale
added to help you keep track of your adjustments!
Ecosystem of Add-Ons!
If you're looking to enhance
your Lunt Solar 50 mm Ha Solar Telescope w/ B600 Blocking Filter experience,
look no further than these extras! For those looking to reduce the bandpass
even further for an even more precise and detailed look at the Sun's Ha
features, the
Lunt LS50C Compact Double-Stack Filter
delivers; installing in front of this telescope, the independently tuneable
double stack module can thin your bandpass down to an incredible
<0.5Å! For a V-Series saddle mounting solution, you can add on the
4" Lunt Solar Dovetail Bar. Finally, if you're looking to upgrade the stock helical focuser then be
sure to check the Mini Starlight Instruments 1.25" FeatherTouch Focuser for
LS50T option prior to adding this scope to your cart. This premium focuser
will add a robust and smooth focusing experience to your dedicated solar
telescope!
Don't Forget Your Finder!
The Lunt 50 mm Ha Solar
Telescope can provide a safe and enjoyable solar viewing experience when
used properly with your telescope, but don't forget about your finder! Much
like a telescope, you should never look through a finder scope (magnified or
not) at the Sun without a proper finder scope solar filter in place. Even
with a filter, we don't recommend an unmagnified or red dot finder scope as
it is easy to accidentally look around these types of filters and into the
Sun. An excellent option for this telescope that can be easily installed in
this telescope's clamshell rings is the
Tele Vue Sol-Searcher Solar Finder. This is a dedicated solar finder which will help you find the Sun quickly
and safely!
What's In The Box
Included with the Lunt 50 mm Ha
Solar Telescope you will receive a clamshell single scope ring which
features 1/2"-20 thread on the bottom for connecting your scope to a
dovetail and a slot on the top for a solar finder (dovetail and solar finder
not included). This model includes the B600 blocking filter for excellent
visual and imaging performance from this telescope. Finally for storage, the
shipping box your receive your scope in will include a soft foam insert cut
to perfectly cradle the Lunt 50 mm Ha Solar Telescope when it is not in use.
