Orion Intelliscope Object Starblast Locator
Important Note: This kit brings you Orion's Intelliscope hand controller and some supporting electronics for the StarBlast Intelliscope compatible systems. No documentation is included outlining how to apply this kit to upgrade a compatible StarBlast model, repair a telescope with this system already installed, confirming which models are compatible, or outlining what (if any) additional parts are required for use. This is not the Orion 27926 StarBlast upgrade kit that was commercially available. Accordingly we can not guarantee whether this can upgrade or repair your telescope, nor accept returns for this item.
Orion Intelliscope Object StarBlast Locator
The Orion IntelliScope database includes a lifetime of celestial objects to view: 837 stars (including double and variable stars), 7,840 NGC objects, 5,386 IC objects, 101 Messier objects, 8 major planets, and 99 user-entered objects. The IntelliScope Computerized Object Locator hand controller features illuminated buttons and a backlit, two-line liquid crystal display (LCD). The intuitive menu buttons allow selection of objects by type (e.g., Planet, Nebula, Cluster, Galaxy) or catalog number (e.g., M57, NGC 253). Press the Tour button to select one of 12 tours of the best objects visible in any given month. Or use the ID button to find out what object you're viewing, if you're not sure. The LCD screen provides information about the objects you see, including object type, common name (if any), magnitude, constellation, and a brief visual description. Whether you are an entry-level or expert astronomer, the IntelliScope Computerized Object Locator makes observing the night sky with your telescope easier and more fun. It will enable you to view many more celestial curiosities in an evening - and in a lifetime - than you ever could before. And it's faster, quieter, easier, more reliable, and eats fewer batteries than those motorized pointing systems on other computerized telescopes. The IntelliScope Computerized Object Locator requires just one 9-volt battery, which is included.
The Orion IntelliScope system is a 'push-to' that pairs the brains of a traditional GoTo system with manual motion of a typical Dobsonian. With just a two-star alignment, you can select from the Intelliscope's extensive library of objects and be guided to the target with real-time on screen feedback. A pair of arrows let you know which left-right and up-down direction you'll need to move your scope, allowing you to bridge the gap between an engaging fully manual experience and relaxed (but more costly) fully motorized Dobsonian system.
