Pegasus Astro Prodigy Microfocuser
Pegasus Astro Prodigy Microfocuser
For precision telescope focusing, Pegasus Astro's 3" robotic microfocuser, the Prodigy, boasts the necessary accurate motor and internal electronics.
Capable of lifting an imaging payload weighing up to 10 kg (22 lbs.) with true exactness and without flexure thanks to a robust mechanical design, the Prodigy Microfocuser features 3" (76 mm) of clear aperture and 25 mm of draw tube travel.
A pair of switchable USB2 ports, along with a pair of switchable 12V power outputs, supply power for imaging equipment in close proximity to the focuser such as a filter wheel or guiding camera.
Adjustable Rotation
To enable both an easy fit to your telescope, as well as camera installation with ideal positioning, the rotation adjustable Pegasus Prodigy Microfocuser offers precise orientation on each side.
Innovative Design Supports Heavy Payloads
The Prodigy Microfocuser is neither a Crayford nor a Rack & Pinion type focuser. It uses an innovative mechanical focus design to provide very high load support and accuracy with zero maintenance, easily lifting up to 10 kg (22 lbs.) of imaging equipment with zero flex.
Zero Motor Backlash
Embedded stepper motor design ensures a smooth, low noise and backlash free operation. V-Curve points during automatic focus procedure are dead-on accurate.
Industrial Grade USB Hub and Power Ports
Any imaging accessory in the immediate vicinity, such as a filter wheel, guide camera, or motorized OAG, can be connected and powered via two USB2 ports and two 12V 4A power outputs located on the side of the focuser. Standalone software can be used to switch both of these ports on or off.
Temperature Probe
Included with the Prodigy Microfocuser is a digital temperature sensor probe. Place this probe near the focuser to determine the precise focuser/environment temperature as seen through Pegasus Astro's software or ASCOM driver. Connects via an external input.
Software
A standalone software program from Pegasus (only available for Windows) can be used to operate the Prodigy Microfocuser. The latest ASCOM and INDI framework is also supported.
Firmware Upgrade Support
Firmware supports re-programming via the USB 2.0 connection using upgrade software (only available for Windows), for future upgrades which may become available. Pegasus Astro constantly receives feedback from their customers and is continually updating the firmware and software with new features.
Please Note: Pegasus Astro states that their Unity software suite currently does not work with Windows machines equipped with the Snapdragon line of CPUs.
