A Fully Featured Standalone Smart EAA Eyepiece
With a stylized 2" eyepiece form factor, one could be forgiven for missing all incredible features Pegasus Astro has packed into the SmartEye. However with on-board imaging, processing, an OLEDoS display, and wireless, this engineering feat certainly is anything but just another high-end eyepiece!
Please Note: Pegasus Astro recommends use of the SmartEye with telescopes built to f/7 or faster. To use the SmartEye with a higher focal ratio telescope, such as an SCT, a focal reducer will be necessary. A motorized mount with sidereal tracking is required, either EQ or Alt/Az (though EQ is strongly recommended by the manufacturer). This does not have an IR filter, and so Pegasus Astro highly recommends adding a UV/IR Cut filter.
EAA Evolved
Traditional EAA setups require a dedicated camera, computer, and software to transform the view from your gear into something stellar. Pegasus has greatly simplified the process by combining all three elements into the SmartEye, providing punchy and power images of celestial targets right on the device. Not only is this an easier way to enjoy an electronically assisted astronomy experience, but a more engaging one as well — as you can choose to view your image on a screen or in an immersive, digital zoomable, super-wide 90°, 12 mm eye relief, eyepiece view. This screen brings this dynamic view to you in bright full color or in monochromatic red, allowing you to tailor your view for maximum color detail or night vision preservation. SkySafari Integration
Supporting Bluetooth 5 with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and fitted with dual-band WiFi, you can effortlessly connect your SmartEye to your iOS or Android device to unlock some truly smart features. Developed in partnership with Simulation Curriculum, the SmartEye connects with the excellent SkySafari suite*, allowing you to easily find an object to observe, share and edit images, adjust the settings of your SmartEye, and receive in-depth information about the celestial objects within your field of view. With your mount connected, you can even slew directly to your target and let SkySafari & SmartEye validate it is centered with plate solving technology—that's perfect target finding and framing with no astronomical knowledge or star hopping required! Bolstering the longevity of your SmartEye, Pegasus Astro designed this system to support future firmware upgrades and core software updates. Not only does this allow you to anticipate exciting new features, but any released bug fixes maximize performance for a better user experience.

Automated Live-Stacking for Unparalleled Views!
The SmartEye is fitted with advanced auto-stacking technology, enabling you to see the images within your eyepiece come to life right before your eyes! This innovation significantly improves signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), resulting in enhanced structure, improved contrast, and richer color, all in real time. Providing a level of detail and vibrancy otherwise unattainable with standard eyepieces, this Pegasus Astro SmartEye digital eyepiece delivers a visual experience like never before! Also, its built-in accelerometer and gyroscope work to detect any vibrations present during imaging. If instability occurs, the internal software will automatically exclude any affected images from image stacking to ensure a pristine final image.
Built-In TEC Cooling
Essential for long exposure astrophotography, Pegasus Astro has added 2-stage Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC) to this SmartEye digital eyepiece. This game-changing feature cools the sensor down to 30°C below ambient temperature for a significant reduction of heat noise. The result? Cleaner, sharper images brimming with clarity!
Fits Standard 2" Eyepiece Gear
This first-of-its-kind smart eyepiece design from Pegasus Astro allows you to turn any f/7 or faster telescope and tracking mount into a smart telescope-like experience. Simply insert this into any 2" focuser, provide USB-C power, find your focus, and start tracking! You're not limited to EQ mounts either—with built-in algorithms to compensate for field rotation, the SmartEye works with both EQ mounts and Alt/Az mount users are welcome! The end of the included 2" nosepiece is threaded for standard 2" filter threads, allowing you to supply some of today's incredible astrophotography filters and enhance the SmartEye's view of deep sky objects! This nosepiece can additionally be removed for an M54 female threads that will allow you to make a direct thread connection (native backfocus is 12 mm) or attach other user supplied adapters to integrate the SmartEye into your unique system!
Premium Construction
The Pegasus SmartEye is housed in an aluminum 2" eyepiece focuser compatible housing that keeps the sensitive electronics safe and secure. Diopter adjustment is built in to accommodate a wide range prescription needs — with +1D to -5D of adjustment. The large Astro Crown knob on the side of the eyepiece allows you to navigate menus and adjust settings on the device's super-imposed, self-contained, menu system. To make offloading images easy, an SD card reader has been built into the device as well!
Built With a Trio of Ports
On this Pegasus Astro SmartEye, you will find three ports: a USB-C port, an ST-4 guide port*, and a micro SD port. Requiring up to 5A of power** for the TEC cooling system and image acquisition, the singular USB-C connection (PD 30W min. required) supplies all of the power this SmartEye digital eyepiece mandates! While internal circuitry helps prevent damage to your SmartEye when accidentally using an incompatible power source, it's crucial to not exceed the recommended 12V input voltage to ensure proper performance. A 12V DC to USB C adapter is included for your convenience. For autoguiding purposes, you can connect your mount directly to this SmartEye for enhanced tracking performance during long exposure astrophotography. Also, an anticipated future update will enable the Pegasus Astro SmartEye to send small corrections to your mount while simultaneously live stacking, ensuring the utmost tracking performance and image clarity*.
*Please Note: Pegasus Astro states this functionality will be available in upcoming software updates. ** They state 3A power consumption is typical, but peaks above this may occur in certain situations and so a 5A solution is recommended.
WiFi Connection & Guest Sharing
With its integrated WiFi, controlling your SmartEye is a piece of cake. After selecting “How to Connect” within the WiFi menu, you’ll be able to view the hotspot SSID and password. Or, simply scan the displayed QR code to connect directly to the SmartEye hotspot! You also have the opportunity to connect to a local network as a client for seamless communication with other devices. The Web Dashboard, accessed through your device’s web browser, enables full control over the settings of your SmartEye and configuration of its features. Guest View Sharing is also available, enabling others to view the latest stacked photo captured by your SmartEye!
Everything You Need to Succeed
Pegasus Astro has you set up for success, including numerous accessories with your SmartEye! A high-quality USB-C to USB-C Power Cable ensures a reliable source of power to your smart eyepiece, and the included 12V to USB-C adapter provides integration with almost any system. As mentioned above, this system is compatible with just about any standard 2” focuser thanks to the included 2” nosepiece. This nosepiece houses M48 female threads for the attachment of user-supplied filters, or you can remove the entire nosepiece for threaded attachment to your rig with the M54 threads on the body of the SmartEye itself. Also included is a protective hard case and protective caps to safeguard during transport and storage.
