QHY OAG-L Pro Off-Axis Guider - Large, Pro
QHY OAG-L Pro Off-Axis Guider
For Large Sensors
When using an off-axis guider (OAG), unlike external guiding solutions, the guiding camera and the imaging camera share the field of view of the main optical system. Telescopes with long focal lengths can often have fewer stars suitable for guiding within the field of view, especially under sub-ideal seeing conditions. In this scenario, one way to improve the chance of finding a decent guide star is to use a guide camera with a larger sensor (and therefore, larger field of view).
In order for these larger-sensor guide cameras to perform to their full potential in an off-axis guider, a prism large enough to allow illumination of the larger sensor is needed to avoid severe vignetting. This is where the QHY OAG-L Pro comes in! The "Pro" version of the QHY Large Off-Axis Guider (OAG-L) boasts a larger prism size of 10 x 14 mm, as compared to the Large's 8 x 8 mm prism.
The QHY OAG-L Pro attaches directly to the camera or filter wheel with six screws, ensuring a solid mechanical connection. Because the OAGL Pro is designed to support cameras with larger sensors (such as the QHY461PH and QHY600) and optical systems, the Pro only provides M62 and M54 thread outputs.
QHY offers four sizes of their off-axis guiders: small, medium, large, and large pro. Choosing the correct OAG is based on the sensor size of your guide camera.
Choose the Large version if you have the QHYCFW2-L filter wheel or a QHY(IC)16803 camera.
Choose the Medium version of the OAG if you want to use a camera with an APS-C, APS-H or 36x24 sensor, such as the QHY(IC)16200A, or you have the QHYCFW2-M filter wheel.
Choose the Small version if you have the QHYCFW2-S filter wheel or a sensor that is smaller than APS-C.
