QHY QHY5III462 Planetary Color and NIR CMOS Imaging Camera - Standard Kit
A High-Performance Planetary Camera Loaded with Qualities!
In search of a high quality camera for imaging the wonders of our solar system? This QHY QHY5III462C is the perfect solution! Professional-grade and built to resolve exceptional detail, enjoy capturing our Moon, the Sun, and our neighboring planets in stunning clarity. Adaptation to your telescope is a breeze, and QHY includes extras such as two filters, a C-mount adapter, and multiple cables to get you out and imaging in no time. Push your astrophotography to new heights with this QHY5III246C Color Camera!
Backed by Sony STARVIS technology and key advancements from QHY, this camera is an exceptional instrument for detail-driven astroimagers. Its high near-infrared sensitivity and exceptionally low read noise of 0.5e- deliver beautiful detail on Jupiter’s atmosphere, Saturn’s Rings, the intricate structures on the surface of our Moon, and plenty more. This sensitivity is furthered by its back-illuminated design, while the Super High Conversion Gain (sHCG) capability enables very low read noise at high gain settings. In addition to imaging our solar system, this QHY5III462C can be used as a powerful guiding camera for your deep-sky astroimaging rig. The included USB cable, ST4 guide cable, and UV/IR cut filter offer use right from the get go, and an additional IR850 filter and C-mount adapter come standard within this package for a host of imaging opportunities. Whether you’re eager to capture Jupiter’s Big Red Spot or looking to maximize the stability of your mount, QHY helps you do so with ease!
Next Level Imaging with this Feature-Rich Camera
This planetary camera is jam-packed with qualities, helping you make strides within your astroimaging journey. Discover more about the QHY QHY5III462C Camera below!
Sixth Generation Sony IMX462 Color Sensor
The onboard Sony IMX462 is the foundation of this QHY5III462C camera, providing 2.1 MP of resolution and impressive Sony STARVIS sensitivity. As opposed to previous generations of Sony BSI sensors such as the QHY5III290, the photodiode portion of the pixel well is physically deeper. This adjustment enables longer wavelengths to penetrate the substrate, offering a dramatic increase in near-infrared (NIR) sensitivity! For instance, the peak quantum efficiency at 800 nm in the NIR is just as high as the rated value within the visible spectrum. This exceptional sensitivity coupled with the small 2.9 um pixels, 12ke- full well capacity, and low read noise of 0.5e- make for an outstanding camera for solar system imaging.
Back-Illuminated CMOS Structure
As opposed to front illuminated sensors, the necessary wires and transistors of this Sony IMX462 sensor are fitted behind the pixel wells. This careful circuitry enables more photons to strike the photosensitive layer, subsequently increasing quantum efficiency! Far more detail will be evident within your frames thanks to this heightened photon collection, enabling dark, dim objects to be resolved more clearly.
Get the Most Out of Your Camera with these Helpful Extras!
Supplying you with the opportunity to image past the visible spectrum, the optical window of this QHY camera is AR coated only, without any UV or IR blocking treatments added. Instead, two 1.25” threaded filters come included within this package: a UV/IR cut filter to reduce star bloat during RGB imaging, and an IR850 filter for imaging above the 850 nm wavelength. Full creative freedom is at your disposal thanks to QHY! This QHY5III462C camera boasts a 1.25” interface for seamless integration into your telescope’s focuser. If you’re wishing to attach your camera to C-mount lenses or other optical systems instead, QHY includes a C-mount adapter for your convenience (noting the backfocal distance of this camera is 12 mm).
Power and Ports
On the body of this QHY5III462C camera, you’ll find two ports: a USB3.0 Type B port, and an ST-4 guide port. Connection to your computer via the USB interface offers fast, reliable data transmission—a must for imaging at high frame rates. This port also supplies stable power, with a 2 m long USB cable included for use right out of the box! For direct connection to your mount as a high performance guide camera, QHY also includes an ST4 guiding cable for your convenience.
