The QHY5III678 Color CMOS Camera and Guider Packs Advanced Features into an Affordable Package

The QHY5III678C CMOS camera/guider is an addition to QHY's Version 2 line of its popular QHY5III series of planetary cameras and guiders. The 678 is considered an enhanced version of the QHY5III178, which is its predecessor. Like the 178, the IMX678 sensor is back-illuminated, but with a higher resolution and quantum efficiency, in addition to enhanced sensitivity in the near-infrared.

The color complement to the 678M, the 678C features the Sony IMX678 sensor. This CMOS sensor provides over eight-megapixels of resolution, with a pixel area of 3856 x 2180 and a pixel size of 2.0um. This latest-generation sensor has a physically deeper photodiode pixel well section, which allows photons of longer wavelengths (near infrared) to penetrate deeper into the substrate. This creates a dramatic increase in sensor sensitivity to red and near infrared (NIR) light. In fact, this sensor displays almost equal peak sensitivity to near infrared light as to light in the visible spectrum!

Another Excellent Addition to the Version 2 QHY5III Series Product Line from QHY

As a member of QHY's popular v2 QHY5III Series, the 678 benefits from all the features of this series, including a large and fast 512MB DDR3 image buffer, CS- and C-mount lens compatibility, USB3.2 Type-C connection interface, as well as an ST4 guide port and other features.

Sony IMX678 CMOS Sensor
The QHY5III678C featueres a Sony IMX678 CMOS sensor with back-illumination, a high 3856 x 2180 (8.4MP) resolution, higher quantum efficient (QE) and enhanced near-infrared (NIR) sensitivity. In fact, the IMX678's sensitivity to the near infrared is so enhanced, it performs almost equally in the NIR as it does with light in the visible spectrum!

Benefits of QHY5III v.2 Series Cameras
As a member of the QHY's popular QHY5III Version 2 series of astrophotography cameras, the 678 includes all the features of this line, including the large and fast 512MB DDR image buffer, improved front-end design, CS- and C-mount lens compatibility, a USB3.2 Type-C connection interface, a universal ST-4 guiding port, a status indicator LED, and 1.25" body size for maximum compatibility.
