QHY CMOS Scientific Cameras for the Ultimate in Imaging Performance

QHYCCD Scientific Cameras offer the latest technology in scientific imaging at reasonable prices. Scientific CMOS image sensors offer extremely low noise, rapid frame rates, wide dynamic range, high quantum efficiency, high resolution, and a large field of view simultaneously in one image. In this sense, while QHYCCD cameras made for astronomy clearly fit the definition of scientific cameras, we differentiate our scientific camera models based on additional features not found on similar models used for astro-imaging.

QHYCCD Scientific Cameras not only exhibit extremely low noise, high quantum efficiency and other scientific CMOS characteristics, but also offer large area, high-resolution sensors, SWIR sensors, polarized light sensors, GPS enabled timing, external triggers, field programmable gate arrays, a 2x10GB fiber optic computer interface and water cooling options.

The QHY1253P scientific camera features the special Polarized version of the Sony IMX253 CMOS sensor, which includes a Global Shutter. Compared with QHY550P, 1253P has a bigger sensor. It has important applications in gemstone, geology and material & biology science.

Capture a Polarized Image in One Exposure!

The QHY1253P comes with the on-pixel four direction polarizing filter. A polarized sensor can capture a polarized image in only one exposure. No need change the polarize filter three times. Also a polarized detector can be used in industry to detect scratches, transmissible objects and achieving images with the no-reflection.

Since the polarizer is formed during the semiconductor process, form and formulation, uniformity, mass productivity and durability are excellent compared to conventional polarization sensors. Furthermore, The Polarization sensor is covered with an anti-reflection layer which helps to reduce reflectance and avoids poor flare and ghost characteristics.

Unlike the rolling shutter technology used in most CMOS cameras, a global shutter guarantees that the exposure time for the whole image area is uniform, beginning and ending at exactly the same time. This type of shutter is ideal for high precision applications. For high speed moving object and the atmospheric agitation the global shutter can generate undistorted imaging and realizes high picture quality.

QHY1253P has a two stage TEC cooler. It can cool the sensor to -35C below ambient and reduce the dark current, which greatly improves dark signal detection performance. This camera is really good at detecting the tiny difference of the polarized light, which is an important feature for life sciences and work in an optical lab.
