The robust dual-speed rack and pinion focuser is large and rigid, providing the utmost stability for your imaging train. By combining outstanding durability with a remarkable optical design, this Sharpstar 13028HNT-AL Hyperbolic Reflector is a must have for your astroimaging toolkit, delivering high performance for years to come!
Remarkable Optical Design
With a hyperbolic primary mirror, this Sharpstar astrograph focuses light with incredible accuracy and precision, delivering images well-corrected from coma and spherical aberration. This primary mirror is constructed of PZ33, a Pyrex-like glass, which sports a low thermal expansion coefficient. The result? Sharper stars and increased detail! Unlike other types of glass that cause blurring or star elongation during temperature fluctuations, PZ33 glass is less affected by temperature shifts, ensuring the utmost clarity. Furthering performance, both mirrors are equipped with multiple layers of dielectric coatings, delivering an outstanding 97% reflectivity for brighter frames. Also, the secondary mirror features a minor axis of 65 mm, allowing for ample illumination across the 44 mm image circle. This means bright, detailed images even with full frame sensors! Integrated within the focuser is a two-element air-spaced refractive lens featuring one piece of ED glass. This built-in corrector is highly convenient and furthers image quality by minimizing chromatic aberration.
Feature-Rich and Powerful in Performance
This high quality reflector is jam packed with features that make it a cut above the rest. From its impressive optics to its sturdy construction, this astrograph has it all! Read more as we dive deeper into the outstanding attributes of this Sharpstar 13028HNT-AL below.
5" of Light Gathering Power
Featuring a large, 5” aperture and fast f/2.8 focal ratio, this Sharpstar 13028HNT-AL acts as a light bucket, collecting a copious amount of photons for bright, detailed images. With a focal ratio this fast, imaging projects can be completed in a more timely manner, making it ideal for those with limited clear sky time. The 364 mm focal length is great for framing up a wide variety of targets, such as the Horsehead Nebula, the Pleiades Open Star Cluster, as well as the California Nebula! No matter what you choose to capture, this premium Sharpstar astrograph is sure to deliver outstanding results night after night.
Durable in Design
This Sharpstar 13028HNT-AL is crafted with an aluminum body and CNC machined parts for the utmost durability. The optical axis of the primary mirror features enhanced support, while the three sets of adjustment screws located at the back of the OTA offer precise control over the angle of this primary mirror. The CNC machined secondary mirror housing is developed with the utmost precision, not only ensuring stability, but also providing stunning diffraction spikes within your images. With a hollow design, the tube ring provides ample security while simultaneously keeping the weight to a minimum. This Sharpstar reflector is ergonomically designed, offering enlarged hand screws on the tube ring to make mounting your telescope a breeze.
Robust Dual-Speed 2.5" Focuser
This Sharpstar 13028HNT-AL includes a 2.5” dual speed Rack & Pinion focuser to help you find precise focus. Utilize the larger, coarse adjustment knob for finding rough focus, then employ the smaller, more precise knob to hone in on the details. With its sturdy construction, it can support up to 3 kg (6.6 lbs.) of weight, providing a solid mount for your imaging equipment. Built into this focuser is a camera rotator to help you achieve perfect framing, a locking screw to hold your camera rotation in place, and the ED doublet corrector for improved image quality.
