With the original tripod being no longer available and this generation being now discontinued, we are selling this mount at a deep discount, with the Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ5 tripod. This is a platform that is tried and true by observers and imagers alike, on a tri-pier that provides more clearance than the stock setup. While this unique setup does require an additional counterweight to push the HEQ5 Pro mount to its limit, and can not set the height of the hand controller bracket, this system is perfect for those looking for a capable system at a great value!

The Sky-Watcher HEQ5 Pro Computerized EQ Mount with AZ-EQ5 Tripod is a unique blend of the tried-and-true HEQ5 Pro mount and Sky-Watcher's lightweight tri-pier, bringing you a package with trusted performance and elevated clearance! This combo is perfect for visual and imaging systems alike, and is able to accommodate longer refractors and imaging trains without fear of collisions. The robust HEQ5 Pro platform carries up to 30 lb. of gear, remaining planted with heavy metal construction, and ready for both of the most common dovetail bars out of the box. It is paired with the SynScan hand controller, that features an expansive built-in catalog and clear, one-line LCD display. The AZ-EQ5 tripod sports a tri-pier design which provides great clearance, with a unique, upwards-folding leg design for an easier to stow form-factor. The legs are made of stainless-steel, which combined with the metal pier and connecting hardware make for a steady platform. A cable handle connects to the mounting stud, allowing the mount to be setup and broken down without having to reach up inside the housing.

For novice users, the user-friendly menu allows automatic slewing to 42,900+ objects. Even an inexperienced astronomer can master its variety of features in a few observing sessions. The hand controller can be connected to a PC using the built-in USB-B port and a USB-B cable (not included). PC control can be done with SynScan Pro for Windows app or your favorite third-party software with the correct drivers.
Flexible Polar Alignment
Sky-Watcher includes an illuminated polar finderscope to aid the alignment process. The finderscope features a circular grid reticle for the Northern Hemisphere, consistent with today’s popular polar alignment apps. For astronomers in the Southern Hemisphere, the constellation Octans is built into the reticle as well. Even without a clear view of Polaris, the HEQ5 Pro can be polar aligned using our SynScan hand controller. Simply choose one of the visible stars listed and use the latitude adjustment screws to center it in the eyepiece.
